Girl, you are just into them rispettos. I like the observation you make in this poem. By all nature's laws, a bee should not be able to fly, but it ignores physics like I did in high school. The bee and the hummingbird just amaze me with the rapidity of their wing beats. Roger.

Roger, glad you ignored it in high school as so did I - it was the one and only time I ever received a C. Thanks, Brooke :-)

Concerning beat- the verse also has a good beat. The structure is perfect and the words well crafted. Made me think of a project on bees I did at school some 50 years ago. Lol
Well done
Cheers

Hi Brooke A lovely poem above the busy bee, such a delightful creature, which humans couldn't do without. I do believe at the moment you are answering my reviews as I write them. It's a rainy Sunday afternoon so I thought I'd catch up on my reviewing.

This is a lovely look at the bee. I had never thought of the beating wings before. I am like so many others, too scared of getting stung to notice.

two things with your poem of late
firstly:
A fine observation on the quick beats of their wings
the rhyming we excellently accomplished at the end
Secondly: it is said that the physics of the bumble bee's body belies the art of flight

Oh! You know my type! I don't care how many times that bee's wings beat...for I run away in fear!
This poem...well, it does give me pause. How wonderous is the creator, who knew to make those wings move at such incredible speed!

Like humming birds, their wings beat ridiculously fast.
It's quite interesting how nature astounds us.
Poor things- they die after stinging.
Such a short, ill-fated life they have.

When I was about ten years old, I was running around the back yard in my bare feet when I got stung by a bee. I started to run to the house and got several more stings on the way in. I swelled up like a balloon and had to get some kind of shots. All the kids in the neighborhood thought I was somekind of monster for a few days. When I went to camp I had to take a bee sting kit with me. They said that if I had an alergic reaction to another sting, it could be fatal. I haven't be stung since, but I don't run around the backyard barefoot anymore. Instead I wear my black sandals with the tire tread and white socks. Very informative poem. mstad55

Oh, little brother, you might get a woman all hot and bothered imagining you in white socks and black sandals!!! LOL
Thanks so much. Glad you've stayed safe since - I'd hate to see you die :-) Brooke

It took me a day and a shower to figure out that PM was Private Message. Duh! I'm not sure if it was a blonde or senior moment. Anyway, my book has been released on Word Clay for all the world to enjoy. It will go to Amazon in about 45 days and then be posted here on Fanstory for all my fan. (That would be you) If you use paypal and want an autographed copy, I can send you one as soon as my first shipment arrives. Or you can order it on line at Word Clay.com I would be so honored if it were to be on your bookshelf parked next to one of the great authors that you have already up there. Mike

Mike, All my fan - you are too much. Please don't be offended that I don't buy your book - my finances are such that I've not bought anything other than rent and utilities in quite a while. I think it's great that you've hit this milestone!! Congratulations :-) Brooke
-
No problem. When it hits the New York Times best seller's list I'll be able to afford to send you a free copy. Don't hold your breath it might take a week or two.

Two weeks I can do standing on my head! :-)

Not being an expert on the intricacies of poetry, I respond from a very simple place. It either gets me or it doesn't. (Unfortunately, this is not the case in other areas of human endeavor, which I have pursued intently myself, where I am rarely pleased!)
This poem does get me whatever 'iambic tetrameter' means and however one wants to use a 'Tuscan Rispetto.' I hope the author is content with my simply enjoying its rhythmic qualities, an area I can at least confess I know something about.

Eddie, I write that technical stuff in the notes for those who care, a small group. I write the poetry for people like you, who listen to the sound and care about what I have to say. :-) Thank you, Brooke

this poem is just excellent in its thoughts on the majesty of nature. This was just a joy to pursue this well written verse... John
