Boy a month is a long time. Here's the sixer I promised for this piece. Excellent poem with an excellent explanation to go along with it.

Hi Brooke Once again a excellent septolet showing a story in such few words. Thanks for the authors notes they certainly are very enlightening. We have a famous runner 'John Walker' who has just accepted the Queens honour award. Unfortunately he now has 'Parkenson Disease'
Cheers Gaye

Good history in this...Though I am not only a Yankee Hater, I'm a Red Sox fan. I did have a chance to set up a scholarship for a professor in college who had ALS. Intersting that he got to give his first memorial scholarship and have input on the standards for recieving it. Good write...

I love it that you also write in the author notes so I can fully understand what you're saying in your poems. Some just fly over my head, and some I catch right off the bat Brooke but I always read ya. I remember seeing a movie when I was a child about Lou Gehrig I'm not certain but I think Danny Kaye played him in this movie and the name of it escapes me....There you go got me travelin' at the speed of thought again.

Gary Cooper played him in Pride of the Yankees, one of the all time classics of American film!! Thank you for your lovely comments. Brooke :-)

Hi Brooke...this is such a horrible disease. It ruins everything inside the body but the mind. Which, unfortunately knows what is going on but can't speak so no one knows what the patient is thinking. An excellent septolet about an amazing man....blessings....chey

I'm amazed by how much I learn from your writings. Of course, I have heard of Lou Gehrig, but never the history that you have provided.

Proves that we never know where someone's greatest begins!

Thanks you for the poem and the education you provided.

Nice job!

The Pride of the Yankees is oneof my favorites! I had no idea that Gehrig was your inspiraction when I read the title. I so wanted to name my first born Gehrig...my husband passed on the idea.
Great job from a Yankee fan :)

A nice tribute to a man whose name lives
well past his years. I love how your
poem points out the simple fact that
people didn't realize they were witnessing
history at that time. Very nicely done! Carolyn

This poetic piece is well written and presented. Very good word choices and usage. You have researched the subject quite well and it shows in this nice poem about a great ball player. Sharon
