I am so glad you called this one to my attention. It is so lovely and quite worth the effort to find it. Thanks for letting us in on the pet name as well.

I remember a while ago you were suggesting that your haiku were not acceptable to the so-called "masters" on this site. Well you showed them! Your 3-5-3 is packed with imagery and alliteration and a masterful satori. The picture and color choices were brilliant.

well done on winning the contest. If I had read this one before the contest I would of said you will win hands down. It's that good. I enjoyed reading and look forward to getting into the next one you send in.

Amazing poetry. Once again Brooke I love the way you're words just mend together. And it was also very sweet of you to write this poem about your daughter great job with everything.

A lovely haiku dedicated to the sweet
buttercup. It truly is a gem - what a
marvelous image - "sun-soaked gold!"
Good luck in the contest! Carolyn

She had a great birthday - she and her husband have a friend who works in the publicity department for Disney, who gets them into Disneyland free with her employee pass, so they spent the evening there - which is perfect for her. :-) Thanks, Brooke

Hi Brooke What a lovely poem for your little 'Buttercup' The only thing I can suggest with haiku is go easy on adjestives. By the way the two little insects seem to be having a good time on the buttercup.Cheers Gaye

Gaye, yes, the insects are a hoot - I honestly would have preferred a plain old picture of a buttercup, but these bugs have entertained many readers. LOLOLOL Thank you, Brooke :-)

Hi Pearly One,
Yes, buttercups certainly are a ray of joyful sunshine... and I'll bet that sweet little grandchild of yours is too.
Delightful and well constructed haiku full of vivid imagery. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,

oh, my little girl is now 27 - someday there will be a grandchild - until then my daughter, a married lady with a most responsible job, is saddled with being my buttercup/little one/fairy girl. LOL Thanks so much, Brooke :-)

How lovely to hear about your Buttercup! She sounds like a dear. I have 3 grown up flowers (daughters - ages 34, 38 and 39!)and 7 little budding blooms (granddaughters) so its a real rose garden when we get together. :-) Have 3 sons and 6 grandsons as well... but don't think they would appreciate being likened to flowers!!! ;-) ( I'll just call them my sweeties instead - they shouldn't mind that.)

Congratulations, Brooke, on your tie win for this wonderful nature/daughter haiku. As kids, we loved to put buttercups under our chins to see if we liked butter.
Excellent haiku.
