A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!!
I have always loved deer. To me, they are the most beautiful and graceful creatures on the planet. My preacher from my old church found a fawn near its mother's body (hit by a car) and took it home. His children bottle fed it and nurtured it with love. They never penned it - but it stayed with them, sleeping on their front porch, for nearly a year. :)
I live in the woods, so I see deer on a daily basis and never tired of these dear animals. We even bought a salt-lick once (what hunters use to attract deer) as a treat for them. They aren't as timid as some may think. Often, they graze within feet of us as we sit in the back yard.
I'm rambling... This is a cute poem and photo. Thanks for sharing it. New life. I'm all smiles.

It must be deer season. This is the second poem I've read by you tonight with a deer as a subject. Of course, I love nature, so no objections here. I like the alliteration of the "F's". It flows and states a nice observation in nature.

The deer at Valley Forge National Park are only three miles away, so they're pretty much my wildlife experience :-) Thanks, Brooke

Once again, you've taken me back to our farm in my mind. Fawning time was my favorite time of year. Each new babe was a miracle on wobbly legs, enchanting with its determination to stand and seek nourishment.
I still think fawns are the most exquisite creatures (other than my grandchildren!) God has made.

Brooke, as I'm sure I've said before, I've never really been a fan of haiku. However, you have come up with some which have really 'bitten' me. This is one of them. Brilliant.
Warm wishes

You did a wonderful job with your first 3-5-3 haiku, Brooke. Your satori is perfect and the first two lines form an easily imagined vision.

Hi, I just went back and upgraded my rating on your 3/5/3 - great change you made. Thanks so much - this is a most difficult form. Brooke
Comment from lizziebach
This is a beautiful poem
This form is so difficult to achieve right yet you have done an amazing job of it
I think the last line is the most profound

You've captured, with your few words,
that gentle, tenuous begining of life
in one of nature's most fragile and sweet
creatures. Nicely done! Carolyn
