I'm told I'm not writing a long enough review so I'll be repetitive...

I haven't read the book - but I saw the movie years ago. I may have to go to the used book store and take a looksie. ;)

Hi Brooke,
Sorry for the late review. I enjoyed your poem. It is a great tribute in few words. I have read the book and seen the movie also. It is one of my favorites. I hope your poem will motivate others to read or watch this movie and I can see how the book affected your life. It did the same for me. Thank you for sharing and God bless and best wishes!

No need to apologize - most people just skip if they miss a poem while it's being promoted!!! I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness - it's nice to know someone will read one of my poems even if not being paid for it :-) Brooke

Hello adewpearl, Good poem you have here. I actually knew a woman who knew Stenibeck personally. They were friends at the time he was beginning his research on the writing of his book. She was in her ninties when I met her and in a group home for the elderly. She spoke very highly of her friend, but told me she had been angry at him because he was supposed to meet her for lunch one day and instead he was off talking to some homeless people. I thought you might like hearing this little story.

I loved hearing your story - it sounds so much like what he would do - he had such an affinity for life's outcasts - Cannery Row is a wonderful book that shows that. Thank you!! Brooke

Yes, the grapes of Wrath is a book that
left me with a lasting impression, too.
I'll never forget that feeling of total
desolation, yet, even after that, there
was one iota, one inkling that life would
go on, there was a filmy strand of hope
for the future. It's been quite a while
since I read it, and I'm sure I'll read it
again sometime. Steinbeck's one of my favorites.

Gaye, it's better to read the classics on your own anyway without teachers spoiling it with tests over trivia. Thanks, Brooke :-)

A master piece and I'm not joading. You again painted a very telling piece with just a few words. I'm sure a Dodge Dart was more comfortable than Tom's family truck.

Yeah, their vehicle did not look all that comfy in the movie, especially after Grandmom died in it!! Thanks, Brooke

Hullo Adewpearl ....

In just a few words, you have brought to the attention of your readers, the great book - "The Grapes of Wrath" - and recalled its author and the influence that his writing of this classic story has had on your life and your thinking.
There is nothing to suggest changing and I thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from ..... Nanette Mary.

This is a classic I missed reading. Thanks to your poem and author's notes, I think I will go to the library and check it out.

Writing can influence so many more than speaking - either for good or evil. As writers we have a huge responsibility, and it is encouraging to be reminded of one who wrote with integrity.

Thank you for this encouragement.

so true! How the world can be changed with words. If everyone used the powers of words for good instead of evil ,what a nice world we would have!
