She was in her ninties when I met her and in a group home for the elderly. She spoke very highly of her friend, but told me she had been angry at him because he was supposed to meet her for lunch one day and instead he was off talking to some homeless people. I thought you might like hearing this little story.

Hello adewpearl, Good poem you have here. I actually knew a woman who knew Stenibeck personally. They were friends at the time he was beginning his research on the writing of his book. She was in her ninties when I met her and in a group home for the elderly. I loved hearing your story - it sounds so much like what he would do - he had such an affinity for life's outcasts - Cannery Row is a wonderful book that shows that. Thank you!! Brooke

since I read it, and I'm sure I'll read it
again sometime. Steinbeck's one of my favorites.
