Gee, so much to learn from these cow tails. It's amazing what a full moon can do. It makes people crazy and it gives the cows milk. What next? Cinco DeMayo? Oh wait, that was four days before the full moon. I suppose we're glad we don't get milk from pigs. People would think that they would get the flu if the drank from the swine. mstad55

Hi Brooke,
I had not heard of the May moon so I have learned something new today. The art fits perfectly with your words. The scene is easily envisioned through your imagery. Good rhyme and flow. Thank you for sharing and God bless and best wishes!

Brooke, not only do I always enjoy your terrific poetry, I always learn something new as well. I had not heard the expression 'milk moon' but it's wonderful. I'm very fond of Guernsey cows too. They have gorgeous long eyelashes and are real beauties. I've actually seen them on the island of Guernsey - and eaten scones and cream from their milk! this poem is so evocative of this time of year. Beautifully written, as usual. a very enjoyable read.
Warmest wishes
Kat

Brooke - I had never heard of the Milk Moon, and I have milked many cows. You are a font of knowledge. Great rhyme scheme and smooth flow in the narrative. Plus you paint an accurate image of the cows ruminating in the pasture. Well done. Charlie

Your rhymed verse was precise and flowed well. I like the way you associated the moon with the lushness of the month of May and the bountiful production the milk.

Perfect description of May pastures and the dairy scene. The farmer is relieved of some of the expense of feed because 'the Guernseys eat at will, and his bottom line is improved because he has 'pails that over spill'. But as a reviewer, it is my job to point out the flaws in this poem - There are none.

::Grinning from ear to ear like a stoned chimp::
Brooke?
How do farmers "fill their barns with pails that spill" with milk?
I'm just asking . . .

I had no idea where the 'milk moon' idea came from. This is fun and a learning tool as well. I really enjoy your poems, and this is delightful.
I'm not reviewing more of yours though--not until I get back. I'm heading out of town for a week to help my daughter move out of her dorm. So have a Happy Mother's Day, my friend. :)
