Would that I could spy the elves and fae! I absolutely love this, and you knew I would! It is positively enchanting.....you probably chose that artwork because it seems a little Enid Blyton-esque....I remember having a little purple hard cover with a similair picture on the cover, filled with tales of Noddy and the rest of the little guys!

Thanks so much, Sara-beth. I actually wanted a Maypole picture, but fan art had none - this is an adorable fairy, though :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke Lovely flowery/fairy poem. I close my eyes and see the fairies as I did as a child. You talk of spring we are in autumn and it's oh so beautiful. I've been comparing the World temperatures and were we live is still the same as many places in the Northern hemispere.
Cheers Gaye

This form really does agree with you. filmoreodragon and I were discussing how you remind her of Emily Dickenson. I couldn't agree more. You have a rare and oh so lovely muse. Thanks for sharing with us!

beautiful, whimsical writing. Good choice of words, it creats great imagery:
When lilies of the valley bloom
and daisies overflow bouquets,
forget all thoughts of winter's gloom --
Come celebrate the first of May.

Why thank you for inviting me to your celebration. I had a lovely time watching the Maypole dance and sharing your overflowing joy at the coming of May and all its beauty.
Your poem is really uplifting and positive, Brooke. You have nailed the quatern form and fill it here with your trademark lush descriptive verse. It's all good.
I recall the Maypole dances from my school days and all the excitement that surrounded them. Wonderful simple traditions that could spark our imaginations and help us rid ourselves finally of winter's gloom. Sadly, no one seems into this stuff anymore.

Yeah, maybe they'll make a video game about the Maypole and then it will come back into vogue. LOL Thanks so much, Brooke :-)

Brooke, I'm speechless. As you know, my belief is pagan, and more pagan a verse no-one could have come up with than this. It's fabulous. I wish I had a six to give you!
Happy Spring, my friend!
Warm wishes

May day is a great day. Other countries make a bigger deal of this day than us because it's International Labor Day. It's funny that the USA started the celebration of labor and then we shifted to Labor Day. Now we must celebrate the end of summer and "forget all thoughts of winter's gloom"
Very nice poem.
