Very well crafted- as you always do. I found this poem delightful, but I thought they were black eyed susans.
Were you inspired by the photo? or write the poem, then find the picture?

they are black eyed Susans or brown eyed Susans - two different names for the same thing, and brown sounded more romantic to me :-) No, I wrote the poem first. Thanks, Brooke

What a great piece of writing. I am unfamiliar with the quatrain style but you have just made me a big fan! Your colors and picture are amazingly lovely. I love sunflowers and these look like the children of the sunflower - can you tell that I am clueless when it comes to plants and flowers? LOL Anyway, this was a fun, fun read and it made me feel good. Thank you.

Brown-eyed or black-eyed Susans are one of the most common wildflowers but their charm is uncommon :-) I wouldn't be surprised if they were somehow related to sunflowers. I'm no expert on the science of them, which is probably obvious from the fact I have people engage in love affairs with them. LOL Thanks so much, Judy. Brooke

whimsical indeed. Lovely, lilting pace and melodic rhymes.
Gorgeous imagery, well portrayed poetically and matching the artwork.
Marvelous flirtation and personification device.
:)
NO spags.

Oh, that Summer in all her glory were here now to bestow upon us such a treat!
You brought to mind the field of daisies and brow-eyed-susans that grows beyond my home, Brooke.
Ths poem's imagery was quite evocative.
Thanks for sharing!

Lynn, thank you - yes, I am so more than ready for summer, or even normal, warm spring. It's sunnier out today, but my apartment still needs the heat on as I sit under two blankets.
I'm ready to retire the damn blankets! LOL Brooke

Yep!
I know what you mean. Blue skies and chilly here too.
Where did the global warming go? lol
I am tempted to go outside in the hopes that it is warmer out there than in here...
-
Global warming seems so intent on melting polar ice caps and ruining life for puffins and polar bears that it's too busy to allow us even the regular warmth of spring.

This is delightful. I wasn't sure if you were talking about the flowers or if it was a parody on love (not your fault but my failure to get my highschool degree the first time around). Very well written, and made me smile. Wonderful sentiment whether for a flower or lover. Very nice work.

Yeah, this is a fanciful one where I'm imagining the flower as a flirtatious girl whom the speaker falls in love with - that's why I categorized it as fantasy. This is probably illegal in some states! LOL :-D Thanks so much, Brooke

This is cute in itself, Brooke. Wonderfully written and, of course, no spags. It was my pleasure to read, as always. God bless you.

Lovely - just lovely, my friend.
I'm not the only one who sees
faces and eyes in flowers, then.
This flows well and has a sing-songy
rhythm to it -- very nice.
A pleasure to review
Margaret.

This is really a whimsical piece from one of the masters. There are layers of meaning that could be gleaned from this simple and well structured poem. kudos
