What a lovely little poem. The imagery is excellent and the story is lovely. I love the picture you have chosen as well fit perfectly! Enjoyed very much reading.

Oh, dear! I still don't have another six for you, since you had the last one some days ago, but this is you at your magical best, Brooke. I won't anaylise as I often do, because I'm immersed in your lovely words and images. I've not heard of brown-eyed Susans, but you are one indeed to me. Black-eyed Susans, on the other hand, are beans, aren't they. I just adore this poem, especially after having written dozens myself about a brown-eyed, captivating beauty. Peter

    black eyed susans and brown-eyed susans are the same flower - they have half a dozen other popular names too - they are all the pretty flower I've used as the illustration for the poem.
    I'm pretty sure they have nothing to do with beans. LOL Maybe you're thinking of black-eyed peas? :-) Thanks for your lovely comments, Peter. They are always welcome :-) Brooke

    Isn't it a miracle that I can use this Willow Park resource, It removes some of my anxiety about viruses.

Oh, I can't wait to see fields of wildflowers again! Spring is the one being flirtatious around here. She beams at us, then hides behind low clouds, then cries all over us. What a tease!

Love the photo. Did it inspire the poem by any chance?

Once again, great job.

    No, the poem came first. I would have preferred a picture of a stone well, but could not find one. Thanks so much, Brooke

I dig the pic and the flow of this piece but I dunno? coming from a female perspective it should've been more about a male...Its really good don't get me wrong but...I dunno, it'd be more appealing for it to be from a female perspective about a male...can ya feel me?

    For this poem you're supposed to forget the writer is a woman! LOL I didn't really think I could turn a brown-eyed Susan into a male. ;-) thanks, Brooke

::Struggling . . .::

Crap.

I loved it.

I didn't want to, but I did. So here's a well-deserved fiver, despite it being a short, formalized, structured piece of poetry.

    Maureen, I don't know a true poet dead or alive who ever wrote a poem in hopes the poet techies would think it had a good syllable count!!! A real poet writes for people who love beautiful words expressing real emotions. :-) Thanks, Brooke :-)
