Hi Brooke,
I love the images produced in your poem.

a lemon yellow sea,

its blossom winked at me.

but she beguiled me with the look
she flashed from that brown eye.

: ) Fun one!

Sounds like something that Robert Burns would write about his " Highland Mary." I love the way you worked out the Quatrains and made this a try romanticized poem which I must admit I really did enjoy.

This is awesome! I totally love it, with all my heart. This is what poetry should be, my dear lady. The last stanza made me feel truly gladdened with delight! This is the feeling I get from Charles Dickens novels, and Thomas Hardy,.....old world charm.......yay!

Hey, Brooke, no notes! Dammit! LOL!
I love the whimsiness here.

Ok to annoy you;

'A calming, yellow sea', as we know what 'lemon' looks like.

I guess 'brown eyed Susan' is the name for these flowers, which makes the poem doubly clever with its ambiguity
Short, sweet and spring-like romanticism.
Ray xx

Ray, I suppose I could have given the scientific name of brown eyed Susans and told about the famous poem written about them a couple hundred years ago by some Brit, but I figured I'd please you with a no-notes poem. LOL
Yeah, I like lemon. LOL And they're really, really bright and gay flowers, not calming at all. Oh, I love to argue with you. If I haven't told you this before, I was the captain of my debate team and have always simply LOVED arguing - you make my day :-) Brooke

LMAO, Brooke. I NEVER argue with a woman. What's the point? ;-) xx

What a lovely flower they are. Still got the mystery flower. Someone suggested Narcissis, but can't find anything close. Love the spring write. joan marie

Are there any garden shops or florists near you where you can carry the potted plant? Thanks, Brooke

Didn't think about that. Good Idea. I can take a picture. It isn't a Narcissis. jm
