Short, but not very sweet. It is easy to see the way the country is going with unrestrained liberalism/socialism to lead the way. Our only recourse is to continue to batter congress, the senate, and the executive branch with our opinions. That and upcoming elections.

I agree 100%! In the 2010 elections, we must vote OUT every single incumbent! Wouldn't that be something. I have a feeling a few "long-termers" are going to hit the road! Can't wait to see that...no matter which party. We need to show them who truly is the boss. And force them to have term limits, as that is the only way corruption can be gotten rid of. Well, up on my soapbox again...... Thanks so much for your great review. Sue

You got it just right...
your poem points out just how ridiculous the whole thing is, and how it is NOT going to do the job.
We cannot pay for this... our great-grandchildren will not be able to, and soon foreign investors will own America.
Very well done.

Well, worse news.....foreign investors already own us. We are the largest debtor in the world and China last loaned us the most. And that's just the tip of the ugly iceberg. Has me worried sick. Thanks so much for your review. Sue

Reggie, I'm heading out to Chicago on July 4th for the big "Tea Party" that's been organized. Can't wait! I feel so helpless, maybe it will just help me feel like I'm doing at least something. Thanks much for your review. Sue :-))

How upset have you been for the last 8 years, or are you not aware of the surplus that was in place at that time.

I personally am glad that something is being done, so I am not among "Most America" although I am an American, born and educated right here in the U. S. A.
Thank God the Constitution is till valid and it allows me to disagree, just as many will agree with you.

I often hear lots of complaints, but very seldom see anyone make reasonable,
ideas on what should be done, it is easy to frighten people, I only hope that people will really keep track of what is being done, and can realize this is

something had to be done, Now I hope that there will be some kind of controls put in place that will, perhaps, make it a lot more difficult for many of the things that have happened, not be able to happen again.

I saw no spag so I give 5 stars

Your review assumes that I've been "happy" for many years. Wrong assumption. You have your opinions that "something had to be done". "Something" is not the answer. You place too much faith in the federal government if you "hope" that controls will be put in place. They can't even control the Social Security or our sovereign borders. My complaint is not along party lines. I believe ALL of congress has much to answer for - Dem. or Rep. And for many years. This naani is specific to money being spent that nobody in their right minds can get their head around. And because of this, serious inflation is coming our way. Laws of supply and demand. Too many dollars, it becomes devalued. You say something "reasonable" should be done. Have you ever been broke and went out to spend more money to save yourself?? That's what we've just done. Insanity, corruption in Congress and we'll pay big for all this. And yes, our constitution is in peril. During the G-20 summit, we have agreed to some unbelievable demands made on our sovereignty. This is not party politics. Just truth being revealed every day as we all stand watching in shock. Thanks very much for your review. Sue

It's demands that many see, I do not. I am not a political person, but if one cannot see that the problems we have now did not start in November then, they are not being honest with themselves.

It took years to get into this mess and it will take years to get out of it.
It is a matter of politics as far as I am concerned. The sitting President inherited quite a situation, and of course many expect him to fix it in a hurry, it can not be done.

Your opinion is yours, just as mine is mine. I am a bit more optimistic than many. At my age I have seen much and although we are headed for a change in this country I think it can be for the better, if people stick together and give things a chance to turn around,

Those are my thoughts, if you, and others think that this country is about to fold, so be it. That is not my feeling, and I think many will agree with me.

I have a lot more faith in the people of this country than you appear to have.
I hardly believe that most of us will sit still and allow things to cause our country to sink.

What is going on now needs international financial intervention, obviously that disturbs you, I don't think we can solve our problems without it.

It's unfortunate that some of us don't seem to realize this is not the world of years ago, the problem with AIG should have made that clear.

Yes, indeed politics has had a good deal to do with the present situation.

At 75 years of age,, I may not see the United States as the country it used to be, at least not for a long time.
But I have seen worse times, i only hope things will get better for the sake of my children.
I repeat your thoughts are yours, I think differently and I hope things will work our for all Americas, sad that you don't have that positive feeling.

As a country we have gone through much and as a young country we had a lot to learn, I believe we have had many good lessons, and those lessons will do us some good.

I certainly hope all Americans don't feel as you do.

Further, yes, you have much to say, but as I mentioned I don't hear one word of advice or thoughts that may make the present financial problems any better.

I am afraid you an I differ much, and as an AMERICAN, I find you anti-American, sad very sad. I am sure there are many that agree with you, perhaps you might like it somewhere else. It would be an honor to give you the fare to anyplace you would like to go. I am sure it will make you much happier.

From a simple poem, you have the nerve to say I'm anti-American when I'm worried sick, daily about our Constitution?? The best document ever drafted?? And I put our Founding Fathers up on a pedestal! Sounds like you have a major case of overdose on Obama-Koolaid.

You're obviously not up on macro/micro economics, foreign policy, domestic policy/monetary policy/geopolitics and the list goes on.

I love my country and don't want this carnage of Government spending all our money. And you call that anti-American?? You are impaired. No reply wanted.

NONE OF THE ABOVE JUST A RETIRED SCHOOL THAT SEE RACISM WHEN IT SHOWS IT'S UGLY HEAD...I NEVER MENTIONED THE NAME OF THE PRESIDENT. SO SO SAD YOU ARE
reply by the author on 06-Apr-2009
Hmmmm....When I wrote his name, I didn't even see a color. I thought of an administration that was out of control. Now, who is the sad one?

You obviously are the one who sees color. And that is terribly sad. Because, I see a nation in trouble. My red, white and blue colors.

By the way, this is a site for poems. I didn't write this for political debate. Just caring for my country. If you respond again, I will not read it.

A venting of emotions heard
in the winds that whisper across
the land, told in the form of
a naani, stated within the parameters
of this form of writing, yet done
with alacrity and purpose of mind
that anyone can associate with.
Well done and good luck

This short and pointed poem is very effective in representing your feelings and a lot of other people's feelings as well. Short and to the point. Good work. Too bad our leaders can't be the same way.

Sue, your naani is excellent. It makes a strong statement in such a few words. I agree with you. Our government is out of control with the spending and I worry about what is going to happen. None of it makes sense to me. Yes, the constitution is not being upheld and it is scary.

Yes, it is very scary. Out of these bad times, the extent of Congress' corruption has surfaced even more. I hope in the 2010 elections, everyone votes out each and every incumbent, no matter who they are. What a message that would be! Thanks for your review. Sue

Welcome welcome to the sellout of America actually the sad thing is I was telling people about this long before even the primaries and no one listened we screwed up selling out our voters selling out our finances the last item to go but not the least is our sovereignty when that goes the new superpower will emerge and it won't be us :(( great poem as far as I'm concerned malachi1206

Yes, our sovereignty. I've worried many times through my life about the economy or wars, etc. But never have I worried about our sovereignty. With our debt to China and our borders being ignored as a just a "pesky little thing" (to name just a few things), I am gravely concerned. Thank you for your review. Sue
