You did it again,....created that great tension and irony between the two sections!....it's both light and serious, and people will definitely relate to it,.....it's so hard to eat right all the time, even when your heart is in trouble and cholesterol levels are skyrocketing!

Ah yes, the treadmil will always tell teh truth. I liked this one, Brooke. The first stanza is about indulgence and the last about paying for it. I am on a diet now, but got hungry yesterday and overate. :( Well written. - Sam

A very cute poem and a wonderful way to start a Monday morning. I have my annual check up in April and I started to think about those issues yesterday. Nice poem. Oh, good choice of photo.

Yes, that check up makes many people think, but evidently not the poor sap in this poem! LOL Thanks, Brooke

Morning, Brooke.
'Syrup AND eggs' Yuck! She must be pregnant! LOL.
I'd skip the breakfast, then wouldn't have to worry about the treadmill. ;-). Fun and ironic write. Love, ray xx

Oh, you don't have The International House of Pancakes and Denny's in England, I take it. They, and many other restaurants, have breakfasts that include eggs plus waffles or eggs plus pancakes as part of a breakfast package that also includes potatoes and a choice of bacon/sausage/ham. It's enough food to clog the arteries of an entire village :-) Thanks, Ray. Brooke

I've never been able to get my head round pouring syrup on meat and eggs :-) Give me a monster british fry-up any day! This made me smile, and expressed something we all know, all acknowledge, and all do little about. After all, if I'm going to enjoy life at all, can't I eat some things that I actually like? ;-)

Mike

Morning Brooke,
excellent sepolet. It conveys, to me, the busy life of a waitress, howevwer it could essily be a busy housewife also.

Maybe it was the pic that made me think of eating establishments.

Best Wishes for your day

Keith

It's meant to convey the life of someone who eats a totally unhealthy meal on his or her way to a cardiac test appointment. LOL Ah well, perhaps I was a bit too subtle. :-) Thanks, Brooke
