I really do like this one. The mighty dinosaur's now provide fuel for our monster trucks that waste the fuel provided. Pretty interesting thought, that. This is a fun poem, with a serious message, whether done on purpose of not. I like it.

Foreboding and forbidding - words
that most of us don't heed. I have to admit,
I try not to think of the ultimate end
to fossil fuels and what it will mean
to life as we know it. Of course, I expect
it won't happen in my lifetime, or my children's,
or my grandchildren's . . . Here come those rose-
colored glasses again . . . Great poem! Carolyn

Carolyn, thank you so much - yes, we all hope it will be far enough away that at least we'll miss the doom. :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke Your words speak the truth, strange you should put these words down, I remember some years ago saying to a child in my life as we went to cross the road 'Imagine what it would have been like in pre-historic times. I would have said watch out for the Dinosaurs instead of the cars buses etc. Are you going to turn the lights off today? Our time is 8.30 tonight the 28th April Cheers Gaye

I'm going into the confessional booth with you here: I own a Hummer.
Ahhhh! Don't hate me! LOL!!!!
I'm just a little ole lady tooling 'bout town! To be honest, when I moved back up here to my hometown, I had not seen road rage as bad as this in 30 years. Tailgating, horn blowing, anger....I thought, "I'll show 'em". So, I went out and got my Hummer. They don't even mess with me! LOL!!
Oh yeah, your poem! Ha! Whatever the form is, I loved it!

Well I'll tell you what gal, them trucks look more exciting than a Dodge Dart. It's the coming down that is not too nice from the looks of things in this here poem.

This was good, even if it didn't follow the intended form. I enjoyed the way you contrasted the T-rex ruling the earth and man ruling the earth. I also liked the alliteration in the first stanza. Nice job

There's an interesting correlation nonetheless, since fossil fuels come from the plant matter from the time of the dinosaurs. What are we leaving for our children? One of the amazing things about Brazil is they began using biofuels in the 1970's, and now most cars here can use both gasoline and biofuel in a mixture or just biofuel if you prefer. And many of those cars are made by the Big Three of the US believe it or not! may not be a septolet, lol, but it gets you thinking.

I intended an even more direct correlation - with fossil fuel also coming from the remains of the dinosaurs themselves. Thank you, Shea, for your most thoughtful comments - I did not know about Brazil. Brooke

To be honest, Brooke, I'd rather not think about the rest! I find myself grateful that I shall be long gone and so not witness this green planet's demise at the hands of man. Maybe the tyrannosaurus could do us a favour if he came back and did a little 'housekeeping' LOL. Great poem
Warm wishes
