Another heart-wrenching, lovely poem
that gets to the true emotion surrounding
many of our treasured national monuiments.
This is a superbkly evocative piece - like
many of the others you've written. I just got
back from Disney - forgive me if I miss something
as I try to catch up! Carolyn

Oh, Disney with the grand kids - I am sure that must have been such a great week. It's so good to see you again though I'm sure you'd rather still be there with them!! :-) Thank you for looking at my work :-) Brooke

This is a marvelous septolet, Brooke. The cherry blossoms are a true sight to see. The accomanying second section fulfills its duty completely with the sorrowful mourner. This is a difficult poem format to write and you have done so quite well. Lyla

What a beautiful and moving poem. Your word choices are perfectly chosen. You create vivid images and really capture the reader's attention. This really touched me. It is easy to see why you are ranked the number one poet.

A poem of sensitivity tinged with
the tears and heartbreak of hundreds,
written with softness, with tenderness
of the feelings that come from the heart
and soul as one comes upon this silent
site of reverence, majestic in the quiet
of the day with only the whispers of the
wind, and the haunting sound of taps heard
on the breezes rustling through the trees.
Well done

Dear Brooke, I realise, having read your accompanying notes, that there's more to this form than meets the eye. It is very finely wrought, like its writer. Peter

For some reason I don't have six stars. If I did, this poem would win them.
The imagery is stunningly beautiful with the contrast between the beauty of the trees and the unrelenting sorrow of the widows there.
This is exceptional, and I wish my rating could reflect that.

There is much to think about with your words. From my point of view, there are too many tears and too few cherry blossoms. Neither can assuage the pain. You are doing very well with these Septolets, Brooke. Great writing.

What a sad thing. I saw the picture of the woman who slept next to her husband's casket, just so she could sleep with him one more time. Very sad. Great poem.

Arlington, the former home of Robert E. Lee is a testament for our war dead. Very well written with very good imagery and descriptive scheme.
