    brooke,
i went to nyc in 1998. i spent ten minutes in front of the world trade center arguing with the cab driver that i didn't need to get off there. i am glad i did. i was able to take in the hustle and bustle of life before 9/11.
i love nyc. i would love to go back. with hubby, i don't know.
i also saw the chrysler building. definitely beautiful.
    love,
    barbara

This is a lovely poem. I've only seen the building from afar, but I will return to NY, and when there I'm sure I'll be able to get a much proper view. The poetry flows beautifully, and is truly the opposite image of the one I wrote. I applaud you.

Wanna fight? ha ha
Have you ever seen the Washington Cathedral in DC?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

You are so talented, Brooke. Your poetry has such versatility and depth. This poem flows nicely and your personal experience has colored this description so beautifully.

Yes, it is a gorgeous cathedral - I love quite a few cathedrals - but art deco just gets right to me! Thanks, Brooke

I think God can be the inspiration for building of great beauty as well as nature. This is beautifully written, very descriptive, the cadence was perfect as was the rhyme. Very nice. :)

It is so true that quite often we do not worship man made objects as easily as Mother Natures best. This building is magnificent and surely man deserves as much credit for her beauty as does a natural formation. We feel a bit the same about our Opera house in Sydney. In fact you inspire me to write about her. Thank you. I loved how you drew together rather than a separation of these beautiful sights.

I have never seen your opera house in person, but it looks gorgeous in pictures!!! I look forward to your poem. Thank you, Brooke :-)

The architecture of the building is wonderful. I hope it remains standing forever as a monument to a simpler time. Great read. joan marie

Oh, you make me wish I could see it! I'm not a city lover (would rather live in the country), but I love visiting big cities - something so inspiring and striking about them. Have been to the Sears Tower in Chicago and, of course, the CN Tower in Toronto; but haven't really seen any elaborate buildings like this one you describe. Thanks for sharing, and take care,
Heather

Art deco rules!! :-) I would only live in NYC if I were super rich and could live near the park in luxury, but if I were rich, it's where I'd move! Thanks so much, Brooke

Fascinating, really, how some people love the city life, and others (like me), don't. God has made us all so uniquely suited for whatever he has in store for us:).

one reason I would have to be rich is so I could afford to travel to all the beautiful natural places I love - I couldn't spend 52 weeks a year there - but 40 would be just fine going to museums and plays and concerts each day! :-)

Now, now, Brooke, you may have to put up your dukes 'cause that was quite a challenge in your author's notes! The chrysler building is, indeed, beautiful, and you told of its beauty so very well. The analogy to a tall tree with no birds and God's inspired design being a building and not just objects found in nature makes this poem more than a pretty write. It is clever and shouts out for those who have not visited it to do so and see what the shouting is all about. Beautiful rhyme. Lyla

A wonderful tribute to the talent that God gives man to create. Whether poetry, songs, architecture. God creates and allows man to in their own way and both brings God glory!
