Oh, the nostalgic feel of this poem brings me back to a time when I snooped through my grandmother's attic and found a wheel, much like the one in the picture.
I asked Mamaw why she kept it, since she had a nice new Singer that worked like a champ. She said, "Because it has never let me down."
You amaze me, Brooke. I really enjoy the way you look at the world. Your poetry gives me a glimpse of the beauty inside you. You are a gem.

Brooke, only you can write about a wheel and make one appreciate it for what it is. My hats off to you, girl. I wish I had a six.

I could just see the wheel spinning and even hear it throughout this lovely piece. Very well written. The picture definitely adds to it. I would never have thought of a poem about a spinning wheel. Good job!

Nice and It's hard to think that we have advanced so fast and left such great things in the past. It's nice that if nothing else we have pictures of these things to write poems about. Nice job.

Since my poem is about all wheels, we still use the wheel in a million machines that make the world work - I just figured the spinning wheel made a better picture than a photo of a monster truck! LOL Thanks, Brooke

Another fabulous offering from Brooke's pen! You know, it would never occur to me to write about something so simple and mundane as a wheel. You, however, have brought it to life and shown purpose and beauty all at once. Brilliant.
Warmest wishes

Kat, the wheel is responsible for one heck of a lot of our civilization!! I don't consider it as mundane at all. T hanks so much, Brooke

There you are then! That's just exactly what I mean. You 'see' stuff that would probably never cross my mind - if I didn't have Brooke to point it out to me! :)

Brooke - Does your spinning wheel spin gold? That's the only spinning wheel I'm familiar from my youth. I never figured out how they work. I enjoyed your decriptives, the rhyme and the flow. Charlie

Charlie, sorry, no magic spinning wheels in my possession or I'd be off traveling the world, not sitting at my computer! Thanks, Brooke

Ha ha how did I know that you wrote this. I was reading it and I was thinking I bet I can guess who wrote this. I noted it was fluid and it had a rhythm and it flowed nicely despite not rhyming. The thoughts were clear and were done with precision. Then I thought there are two writers on this sigh who could have written this. Adewpearl and that one who's name i can never spell. Thankfully you did not disappoint and I didn't have to take a crack at spelling their name again.

I'm not sure who the person with the unspellable name is LOL
I do rhyme - I just only rhyme the second and fourth lines of my quatrains instead of all four lines. I appreciate your kind comments :-) Thanks so much!! Brooke

oh crud. I'm sorry I did not catch the rhyme. Didn't mean to make a false statement there. :(

that's okay! :-)

As always, your poem excites thought. It is very artfully crafted and a true delight to read. I agree with you that the real value of the wheel lies in its faithful service and not beauty. kudos
