I love a well written haiku! How hard it is to pull one off without a picture, which you did with great talent making it seem effortless, but few people know hoe really hard it is to pack much info in 3 lines! Great job!

Have you ever been to Hawaii? One of the most remarkable things possible in this world is to walk on dried lava at night around areas where it's bubbling up. It's the biggest, stinkiest fart in the world!

ps...got any Guinness for Tuesday?? I can send you a few if you need some :>)

PLEASE!!!!
Oh man, it's been so long since I had one. Here I was today dancing some jigs to some old tapes with my boys--there's got to be something genetic in them, cuz they can samba too, I can't--then listening to the Chieftains, the Pogues and a little bit of Rory Gallagher before finally putting on my favorite Van Morrison...I met him in 1987.
Is there any music you'd recommend? Something I can download for Tuesday? I'm praying it'll work, but I'm scared, tried to make my own corned beef. If I disappear on Wednesday...then I'll definitely need some Guinness to revive me!

Oh damn...I should have asked you this earlier in the week and I really could have sent you some brews...and even a copy of a CD I made of my favorite Irish tunes...Young Dubliners, Leahy, Clannad, Runrig, Christy Moore, Corrs, etc. If you want, I can send you a list of some specific songs...not guaranteed that you'd like them, but they sure make my blood rise in temperature. You MET Van Morrison?? Holy crap!
I'm serious about sending you some G's, Shea. Let me know, OK? No Irishman should spend St Paddys day without a G to sip. LOL

Great entry for the contest. Think you have stated the
essence of how a volcano works.
Remember in the late 50es we were taught the center of
the earth was liquid because volcano's came from there.

Hello Phaedra! Thank you for taking the time to read this haiku and for your kind review and comments. I saw a movie when I was a young girl about a volcano starring Debra Paget (can't think of the name) but I've been fascinated by volcanoes since then.
Thanks!

hot molten lava explodes - that is pretty easy to visualize and quite dramatic too - hidden underground, it awakes - I like the idea of the volcano's lying in wait, always ready to erupt. This is excellent. Brooke

This is an awesome haiku! The syllable count works out. It flows easily and it conjures up a very vivid image of a volcano. I can't imagine anyone writing a more appropriate haiku for the contest. This seems to me to be a very solid entry. Good luck. Sam
