AMEN!
I love this poem - as well as your author notes. I'm sure you have inspired many to, if nothing else, at least remember and pray for those whose lives are lived every day.
Your generous heart is evident in this poem. I loved every word.
I only ask they turn their thoughts
to those with greater cares, <-- Beautiful.

What a lovely poem that has such a weighty and special message with determination to help those who have very little and not much to sacrifice. You are so right that it is the time for action, so many people are suffering and are living a life of strife and more and more each day facing new challenges to their everyday being.

The art work here is just wonderful and your words about lent is necessary, at this time each year. Christ died for us all and wants us to love within our world.
I believe LOVE was the most important word Christ has told us. Love covers the commandments in a way as love is like a perfect word and if we break the commandments, love is hard to grasp again for awhile.
I really cherish your words here.
Honeytree.

This is wonderful. Your poem and author's notes hit home, and do so brilliantly.
Lenten sacrifices are a struggle for me; I did not grow up with that tradition. I feel it is beneficial, though, and a worthy thing to do. Your suggestions make it much more than a simple discipline, and I like that.
You have given me food for thought. Thank you.

I'll have to give you a big "Amen" on this one. I listen in church to people talk about what they are giving up. In most cases it's some small vice of no consequence. I think you have the real ability to turn a nice phrase and this is no exception. Nice and tight craftsmanship.

Some do without for forty days --
some live Lent all year long.
thanks for the reminder! I've been "working" on losing weight, and took Lent as an opportunity to turn my back on those sugary treats that call my name.
You ask us to think of those who, literally, have nothing to give up. It really makes me think about all the things I have, and those that I want.

As a fellow christian, I found this to be heartwarming and inspiring.
Not only a meaningful poem, but one with a lesson.
I like these kinds of things and refer to them as FS public service announcements. LOL
We are all meant to use the gift/s we've been given to inspire and help others.
This was a wonderful example of a gift well used to that end!
Thanks for sharing, Brooke!
