What a different concept than wishing for love to help you feel euphoric feelings. Though, pain, at the other end of the spectrum is the opposite for making you feel alive, it is sometimes even more vivid. Excellent contrast, rhyme scheme, meter, and word choices.

This piece has a nice flow and the message is pretty clear. In order to know your alive one has to hurt to know they can still feel. Staying intuned to emotions and mental fortitude is a life worth living. Happy tuesday.

Very well written. Your words weep with emotion. This saddness flows from each word. Your flow is smooth. I think it is a shame that we must hurt to appreciate the good, or hurt just to feel alive. That is life.

It sucks that one needs to feel pain to know if and when they feel love. Or that one would pray for pain just to know they can indeed still feel anything. You managed to sum all that up in a very well written piece that was my pleasure to read and sit with.

Your poem reminded me of a poem I read a long time ago, entitled "Victory without Defeat". It reminded me of this because, as you say, sometimes pain enables us to feel pleasure. Love and hate. If our hearts aren't broken, how are we to know the joy that comes with a love that feels right? Beautifully done, with rhyme and a flowing rhythm.

You consistently evoke so much emotion through your poems. You do a great job comparing and contrasting to paint a vivid picture on our hearts. I like the line, "Break my heart to let me know there's something left to feel." I'm sure there are many who can relate.

The vicious cycle of hurting to know you're still alive. Well said in this piece. The ups and downs we'll never seem to lose. Great write. joan marie

This is profoundly sad. To think that one would have to suffer a broken heart in order to feel, is profoundly sad. Well done. Bravo

Your lines below say it all. When we stop feeling we are dead. Our bodies may walk and our mouths may speak, but the life within us is gone. To feel is to be human. I think that is the greatest lesson Shakespeare taught us with his words. You have a nice style. I enjoyed the poem immensely.

Break my heart to let me know
There's something left to feel

Thanks again for your beautiful words.

Jerry
