Oh, but wouldn't it be wonderful if we could :)
Thanks for the smile Brooke. Let's hope that spring is ready to spring for real, we have had a lovely week and now today is 39 degrees and drizzly. Reminds me of why I am so relieved that I don't live in England anymore :)

Sharon, I appreciate your lovely reviews and wishes for spring! :-)

I feel for you, Brooke. No envy here. LOL.
I had all the snow I needed last week. It fell, it glistened and it melted two days later. That was enough for me. :)
Although I don't get the harsh weather you get, I could relate to this poem. I, like you, yearn for the newness of spring.
Nice writing.

Our weather is all screwed up - today it is 70 and by Tuesday will be back down to 40. They keep toying with us. :-D Thanks so much for your great review, Brooke

North east Ohio here an hour south of Lake Erie. Gonna get up to fifty degrees, and we're aLLLLL excited.
I loved it. It's cutesy and silly but I STILL loved it.

Hello Brooke, Not at all a gloomy gus. We too had warm weather before the rain and wind and drop in temperature. I too am ready for spring. Lovely poem. I should like to visit your state one day. Peace always Sandina

You make me feel like such a wimp when I'm complaining of conditions not nearly as harsh as yours. Thank you so much, Brooke :-)

Just shows a poet can write a poem about anything - seeing something beautiful or feeling miserable. What you feel inside is what is best to write about. This thought of despair comes through clearly. The poor crocuses thought it was safe to rise up through the ground. But in 2 day's time they will be peltered into oblivion by the snow and sleet. Great ending - the pen may be mightier than the sword - old saying - but even the pen can't stop the snow.
May I suggest that you change "can't" to "can not" to make the last line fit the rhyme pattern a little better.

the poem is in 8/6/8/6 form, so your change would make that line 7 syllables and mess with the rhythm. Thank you, Kristine, for your most thoughtful review - and that forecast I wrote about is coming true right now - the snow is falling and we have several inches already. :-) Brooke

Nicely written and really good wit! Love the flowers, even if they aren't crocus. Very good word choices and word usage. lovely flow of verse and the visuals and imagery are exemplary. Sharon

Sharon, thank you for your kind review. I took the word of the photographer that they were crocuses. Ah well. Brooke

You sure got it aptly described with this poem. I felt so sorry for the poor little crocuses when I read this line: in two days time the pelting sleet
will pound those petals down.
This was a delight to read. Wonderfully done. Such talent you have.

And all that forecasted weather is happening right now - I'm watching the inches of snow pile up outside my window. Thank you, Brooke :-)

Hi Dewpearl,
A beautiful poem, and it is so true. You have filled the work with lovely imagery, and it flows so well. It rhymes well also, without sounding forced. Good job,
Janet
