Aidan had this for a while and they had to put a little pill they broke in half twice a day and put in his bottle and it disolved in the bottle. It helped a great deal.

I enjoyed your series of 5-7-5's and a 3-5-4, even though they focus on Lexi's discomfort--poor little girl. My favorite was the first because of the vivid image you created by "bent in half".

This lovely set of haiku's capture vividly the experiences you and your family are having and will be a treasure for your Lexi as she grows. Each haiku is a snapshot in words of the world she is center of right now but will have no memory of except for that contained in this poetic gift to her.

Nothing to revise here.

Moving poems.

Your haiku groups tell a story with great imagery.
I wish I had family members that lived nearby when my children were little. We lived out of state and had no help. What a blessing you are to Lexi and her mom and dad.

Hi Jan,
Your words express well your anxiety at not being able to solve the problem, but I'm sure your daughter appreciates the help. It is awful when their too little to tell you exactly how and where they hurt. Thank you for sharing and God bless and best wishes!

This poem, that since she is your first grandchild, seems to have been written form the heart, but it does not have the beauty and mastery that the first poem I ever read of yours had.
Perhaps you were not at your best this time. Don`t worry; poetry does not always comes out great, even if we feel inspired or moved by what we are writing.
I don`t enjoy the second line of the first stanza....with intense pain. I think intense pain is too strong. We don`t often, or babies in this case, feel intense pain unless something really terrible is happening to us, and I don`t think this is what you mean here. Other than that a good free style poem.
Keep writing.
luis

thanks, luisestable. I wasn't going so much for enjoyable as I was trying to capture what it's like for the infant and the family to go through the throes of colic. While having a new grandchild is grand, it does have it's tough moments. I believe it's important for Lexi to realize that so I want to capture some of those for her. If you've ever had reflux (which has been the ultimate diagnosis) you know the pain is intense. However, I do understand your comments and thank you for sharing them. love, jan

Lovely little piece about a distressing problem. Though I saw no problems with the poem, I do have a question about the baby. Have they checked to be sure she's not allergic to milk? What you're describing sounds like what we went through with my oldest (bunches of years ago) and it turned out that she had an inability to drink milk or formula.

Good luck with the baby - sherry

Here they come to save the day! The mighty grandparents on the way. Sung to the tune of the old cartoon Mighty Mouse. I like the way you colored and formatted the text. joan marie

.... and besides "being" life to you, she "gives" her life to you all; maybe even more than what you give to her? A delightful account of life in action. tony
