Hey Mike! So did this poem give each reader a craving for a corned beef or is it just me? lmao I really like how you took one place you really enjoy and created a poem dedicated to the food of your city.OK then...gotta go find some sauerkraut.
Indy :>)

Oh, this poem drove me nuts. I couldn't think of a line because I was thinking of the food! The black thing also drove me crazy and I had to think about that, to use the term to me would have been disengenous. Black is not an ethnicity and I could could mention groups such as Germans, Ukrainian, etc. As that came from a single locale with unique but recognizable dishes. In what is called black cooking, it is a a heavily influenced stle as they move they used items and methods at hand. I have been trying to make my own sauerkraut, but have to try a different recipe.

Thank you very much for your compliments and hits review. Mike

I love how you described this place and how business is done over there. My imagination pictured some place that's really fun to be. A place that lifts one's spirit. Nice one here Mike it is very descriptive. I think there is something missing in this line:

It a place to shake of Baltimore's

Didn't take anything from the poem though.
Much love,
Justmade.

Yea, it is and I appreciate that. I might go back and redo the photography, but it is nice to see the police officers relaxing and getting some food. In my area, they are all too active. Baltimore's mayor sent me a nice complimentary Email. I didn't tell her that I have several poems poking at politics and issues. LOL

Thank you very much for thaking time to review this as well, the compliments. Much love, Mike

Well Mike, this poem was delicious to read and who wouldn't finish reading it just hankering for a sandwich!?
I live in a small village so we don't have ethnic neighborhoods, but my oldest son in NYC takes us to all sorts of great places for lunches when we go to visit.

Hi Mike....it's not fair that you are tempting me with this delicious poem. I think I gained a pound or two just reading the words. Oh well I'll just go to the gym in the morning and exercise my brains out. This is a great poem and even though I am not a fan of very long poems once I started to read I couldn't stop. Well done.....chey

Well...! That tells me that I am doing my job well. I love thinking about food as it takes my mind off of eating it and I actually lose weight. This one was a poetic horror as every line costed me a week thinking about the food. LOL

I thank you very much for stopping by as I appreciate the company and also for the review and compliments. The funny thing is the major columnist for the cities major and myself, mentioned bot Lexington Market and Muscrat the same day.

I am thankful that I have a date and time stamp to verify that I hadn't work of off his piece. I contacted the Mayors office and received an automated reply. Simply serendipity and a poem about that will be forth coming. LOL

    Take care, Mike

Hi Mike,
I enjoyed your poem of Baltimore. Your words brought back memories for me. I used to have an aunt and uncle who lived there and I spent quiet a bit of time there. I can almost smell the foods. Baltimore was the first place, I ever saw pizza being made. My uncle purchased one and I was hooked. I talked one of the vendors into giving me a recipe and I was making them here, in NC, long before anyone here knew what they were. Thank you for sharing and God bless and best wishes!

Oh pizza, I have another poem titled, Giavonnia's. They have a very nice pizza and it is hand made as they are from the old country and friends. It is always great to find people across this country who can identify with what I write about.

I thank you very much for your compliments and this review.I also appreciate you insightful stories too. In regards to food, I always love people that give you glimpses on preparation. Ironically we have an Egyptian restuarant that allows children to make their own pizza. I love the various adaptions!

    My best feelings too, Mike

Baltimore is a food city just like Philly - we also have lots of towns around here that have ethnic neighborhoods with great diners and restaurants - and churches who have celebrations with great food - like the Polish churches in Bridgeport and the Italian churches in Norristown - yes, it is wonderful to taste authentic food and not Burger King that is the same in any city from coast to coast. Nothing like Philly cheesesteaks and soft pretzels and shoo fly pie! :-D
You include lots and lots of mouthwatering detail in describing all the dishes and places where they are available - this is a fun read. Brooke

Wow! You are absolutely correct! Philly does have its food and one day, I plan to enjoy it and the Ben Franklin Institute and the museum with the super-realistict art.
We also have Polish and Italian and I wondered if it should have been left out, but length was a consideration with this one. I covered the Italian in a previous poem.

I see it as a credit in Baltimore that the subs still carry the Philly Cheesesteak name, but to be honest, most places don't do them credit.

Thank you so much for your compliments and this review. Mike

Dear Mike,
I just adore this Baltimore poem. It is wonderful. I can really identify with the indecision of choosing in a place such as that. Personally, my favorite is pastrami on rye with swiss cheese! Love your descriptors. Excellent read! Hugs,
Seraph ~

That sounds good, I am sure that Chicago has something similar. I enjoyed the Tongue Fu sandwhich which is pastrami, tongue, corned beef with swiss and spicy mustard. The president's special whch is like a a Rueben and a Cloak and Dagger, They have the Lombard Street, which is Hot corned beef, hot pastrami, chopped liver with Russian Dressing.

I want to make my own Pastrami, but I can't find the beef naval cuts to do so. I love this review! Thanking you for it and the compliments. Mike

This is right down cruel Mike.
You've made me hungry with
all the samples of food you mention.

I've never been to Baltimore, maybe
I should visit even if I gain weight!

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
It's always fun to know about different places. Have you ever been to Seattle?

Have a nice evening. Ana

No, I haven't. These days there is just so much in the budget. I went to New York with my Grandmother, a long time ago, Toronto with scouts, Rapid City and Hermosa last year and Las Vegas for poetry. That was a bit like survivorman for me. Weight needs to be balance with nutricianal smells. We do have a few attractions.

Thank you very much for the compliments and this review. Mike

Could I be pregnant? lol I am glad to finally get this poem done. Yeap, DUN! I intended this as a post the weekend after the Novermber Beer and Bacon. Every time I tried to think of lines, my mind drifted to their foods. But it keep my mind off of eating food. LOL

Sometimes with food, simplest is best. Up at Algonquen Provential Park, after several days of freezed dried food. We found fresh water clams at one of the lakes. The boys watched me and got their clams. They were cooked every which way and i was amazed at the boys creatations. When you don't have it for a while, it becomes a spiritual matter and one comerodery is created. In New Mexico out there for a month of freezed dried and yes, even experemental food, we had our eyes on a turkey. My snares didn't work and watching the mighty hunters corner him and then the hunter being ran off of the cliff was good enterainment for me. But not on a cliff a hundred feet off of the ground. Everytime I was up there, something like that happened. I became good at the jab hold as that was the only way I didn't laugh myself off.

Tomorrow, I will create a poem to feed your poetic hunger!
With love and soon rest! Mike
