I have been reviewing all morning and wanted to read something good. Fanstory kicked me back to my skipped pile. This was well done. I like to read your poems. :)

Sam, thank you - this is an oldie - from a contest about favorite artworks - if you don't know the painting you should google it as it is gorgeous. Sorry it no longer pays! Brooke :-)

I really like your poems about paintings. This painting by Rousseau is one I've never seen in person. Lacking the opportunity to see it live, I've never really like it, that is until I read your poem, reviewed the painting, and saw the beauty and interest you give to the painting with your poem.

Thanks for your painting "reviews", they've brought back a lot of good memories, caused me to think about the poems and paintings, and have helped me learn more about poetry.

I have a gypsy spirit so I was drawn to the title of this piece. After reading your poem I checked out the painting that you were inspired by. It's mesmerizing. Your poem is a beautiful tribute to this amazing work of art. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Excellent poem in rhythm and rhyme. Your imagery is wonderful. The structure is exact in form and it draws my emotions for this work of art.

What a wonderful picture. The animals that we deem as savage, are very seldom that. They live thier lives as we do. Thier aim is not to hurt just to hurt. This poem shows exactly that. What a great poem.

Brooke,
I loved this one, a classic rhyme scheme, the subject matter, well chosen interesting words that conjure exotic images, 'Mandolin, staff, water jug of clay, caftan bright, etc. For me it certainly captured a far away exotic, enchanted and mysterious land. My only suggestion, in reading it over several times aloud, as poetry is meant to be read, is the last line, for me the rhythm and flow would read better if you used (if not to walk into her dream
and have its own fulfilled?) Just a humble thought to consider, but in any event a wonderful poem, indeed!

Thanks for another art appreciation lesson. :)

This is an interesting painting, and you have captured its essence well. I don't think I'd seen it before, so I do appreciate this introduction.

I love your fanciful explanation of the gypsy and lion. Well done!
