Never looked at a caterpillar that way, always was waiting for the transformation. I like how you put its beauty forth. Well written, good luck.

"I've always found enchantment in it's fuzz"
You have such a way of making the simplest things in nature have a beauty for all to see. The simple caterpillar transforms into a beautiful butterfly. Excellent poem Kay

The grace and elegance within this inspirational poem is heartfelt. Yes memories are always treasured and more often triggered by a lake or a park.
However the beauty within your words draws my attention to the indescribable beauty of nature along with the mystifying beauty found within all creatures great and small, its very life is a gem.

Interesting viewpoint on the catterpillar- Yes most consentrate on the final destination - but as you point out here- the journey is hard and long- and not many look at that- Great write- Wrtie on-Di

I have always found them to be a misunderstood creature. Yeah, they can and do wreak havoc, but they are amazing to watch.
Thanks as always for sharing, BRooke.
One tiny nit:
-that when the sun's rays fall upon its face (i think there's an extra space after sun's.)
Continued fun.

When I was young, the hairy worm used to make all the little girls squirm. But the wolly bear with it's coat of hair is a weather forecaster, this I'm sure you know. The thicker the bands the deeper the snow. So, tis a curious creature this catepillar not worm or snake or snail, for what other creature changes completely into a differnt being? It's the stuff we would call a fairytale. mstad55

maybe that's why I love them so much - I love fairy tales! Thanks, Brooke :-)

What a nice departure from that whole caterpillar-as-staging-to-butterfly obsession. I especially like the idea that it "finds enjoyment as it feeds among the leaves." A lovely, lyrical way to describe this wonderful creature. Good luck in the contest.

Well, this is a lovely poem, and I agree, no doubt the lowly caterpillar has no clue of what is in his future. I won't even quibble about the number of legs (an insect has 6), 'cause soon enough he'll have the right number. I think a butterfly has six...? Good luck.

yeah, somebody else did a spider that has 8 - I figure this is close enough! LOL
that could be a real site scandal - eliminating poems based on the scientific classification ;-) Brooke

What fun! You're right, guess they won't be counting legs... Have fun!
