I really liked this one, Brooke. I like the line I beg your pardon. :) I used to spend much more time in nature than I do now. Your poem reminded me of how important it is to get out sometimes. Well done- Sam

Sam, thank you - it is so lovely when you go back and review my older, non-promoted stuff. Brooke :-)

I rate 4 5 or 6 stars only. Other than that I skip. I was in a bit of a rut and decided to just read something good. I do that with a lot of poets on here. I feel it breaks the monotony, and you can always discover something new about a friend on here. It's not always about fs dollars. :)

well, you're just a sweetheart - there are people on this site who live for the opportunity to give other people a 2. LOL

Your poem conveys great thoughts of appreciation for the things we often take for granted, the sun and rain. I liked the rhythm and cadence of the poem. I think I'll dally in my garden more this summer.

Short and so very sweet. And you are so right, we are all duty bound to stop and look, to breath in the wonder. Shame more do not feel that duty.
WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare??
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

These are two very cute, pretty and sunny verses. they remind me of spring and joy, all that is lacking in Canada at the moment. It is so nice to read something bright and cheery. Excellent Kay

Kay, you are most kind - thank you! Brooke

Brooke - You are so right about priorities. Bask in your accomplishments and feel good for yourself for a change instead of dashing off to the next whatever. Nicely done. Charlie

This is simple and sweet. A refreshing reminder to 'stop and smell the flowers' in a very subtle referene. This is beautifully rhymed and well presented. Good advice for all of us. :)

This was just lovely. A huge message in such a humble manner. It just reminds us of the time we need to take to appreciate these things. Thank you for that message.

The light and meandering tone of this stresses your subject matter; everyone should stop awhile and smell the flowers. Lucky are those who make the time.
The rhythm really sung in this set of quatrains!
I read it aloud several times because I liked the sound and the feel.
Very nicely done, Brooke!

I sometimes think that people don't give enough attention to quality time to self. Bonding to one's self is just as important as bonding to others.

Brilliant. Quite simply wonderful. Just those few short lines convey the joy of gardening successfully. I really enjoyed this poem. I can find no fault whatsoever! All the best to you.
