Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

And now, my dear Brooke, your vote's reward is clear. Hey, when you're from Minnesota, as I am, you get used to being the only 'other colored' state on the CNN election maps. (Remember Mondale?) But you still vote, no matter what odds amy be against the choice. I'm with you on the poem's message, and you've expressed it perfectly and beautifully. All the better to read with the great photo you added. Fits so well!
Hugs, Sara

Sara, my first time voting was for McGovern while attending college in MA. I was part of voting for him in the ONLY state he carried against Nixon. Did we have it right in MA or not??? LOL Thanks so much for your great comments and generous rating, Brooke

The responsibility to vote is an awesome one. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the inauguration and the ball, and all the activities, and the prayer service the next day as well. I'm still watching, fascinated to see how our new president manage things. Thanks for sharing your great perspective!

I can understand the feelings you must of felt in such a monumental election for the US and history. Here in Australia it is compulsory to vote in all elections. You have every right to be proud of yourself.

Love and hugs

Yes, I've been told of that compulsory part, which does not sit well with me - I think everyone should vote, but I also think they must choose to. Thanks so much, Brooke

It is indeed thrilling when one goes into the booth and chooses the destiny of a nation - the whole is equal to the sum of its parts. I would suggest one change in line 4 - the preposition in -> by.

I'll look at the poem to see what you mean about the preposition :-) Thanks for the kind review, Brooke

You are a person of very few words :), but you capture the moment and the feeling of it so precisely when you write. This is such a week for celebration and goosebumps (good goosebumps!)

Loved your choice of artwork! I have never voted for one democrat since I started in the Nixon-Kennedy election. Have worked diligently for the republican party and emceed Ronald Regan's re-election rally at the Phoenix Convention Center. I voted of Obama!

God bless you!!! It takes some of us more time to come around than others. LOL I shall not speak of Reagan. :-) Thanks so much, Brooke

Isn't that the way we should all feel. There were things that I saw that I didn't like, but the vote is important. I would love to see more and better news coverage of all events so that we can always have a complete picture when we step in the booth. Just one thing that is disappointing in modern elections. I like that old style voting booth that signaled the vote with a raspy rake and a loud ching! Not the little beeps that they have today that makes you wonder if something is wrong with your cell phone. lol

I love this poem and it is so true and well done to boot!

Yea, what the young people will miss in our non descript environment. I remember those old voting machines and both mom and dad pulling that big lever and Bam! There vote was heard. I couldn't wait until I could vote. At least I had more then a few and you know what! It felt like I accomplished something. No chads and not soft beeps that can only make you wonder! It also took the strenth of someone that could swing a sword.
Hqve a great morning and day! With love, Mike

Great job. I know how that felt as I also put my vote out that day. The poem was all that culminated in that one day. Great job. I can't wait to read more. Keep it up.

Loved you cinquain about how proud one feels when they use their right to vote. It does make one proud when they know they made a difference. Good poem, Brooke. Judy

I marvereled at how such a succint poem can tell it all. Def a moment in history. I wasn't in a voting booth but when i voted for Obama I def should've felt a chill. If I didn't this poem sure did
