Brooke, interesting that you've shared this. I love the movie King Solomon's Mines, and have the one with Deborah Kerr. But I found the Paul Robeson version online to watch free a few weeks ago. It's a tiny square, but I loved it, and ordered the CD a week or so ago. It just came in this week. I love to hear him sing!
Thanks for the wonderful poem which almost makes me feel like I was there listening to it all!
blessings,
Lois

Awesome!Awesome!Awesome! This hits the hearts of all those like myself who voted for Barack. I did not care about color, but about change. My first time ever voting democrat. I was voting for the restoration of my country. Barack has a large problem to shoulder. They are rejoicing around the world including Kenya. This indeed is an historic event and you have captured it well.

I'm sure his spirit and many more were there to witness this bit of history. Your poem expresses that very well, an enjoyable read as always. Karen

This was wonderfully done. I love the mental image of the ghosts of slaves being present in the inaugural celebration. My favorite part was:
He'll sing sweet strains of spirituals
sung by slaves so long ago.
Great flow and rythmn. Great job.

This is another nice one, Brooke. I remember hearing Paul Robeson in concert when I was a child. I was almost in tears at the sound of his beautiful voice. Wouldn't he have been amazed at America today? Lovely poem.

Another great poem, and very topical. I love the use of the different eras, from today back to Moses. I can imagine Paul Robeson singing at this occasion. Excellent Kay

This is a beautiful tribute to Paul, those that gave their lives in the struggle, the new president, the new hope, the new inspiration dusting acrosse USA's skies. Good job, Brooke.

BRAVO!!! Yes, I agree... many past heros (black and white) will be there... I even imagine my mother is watching. She prayed for such a day, but was not to be in her lifetime...
Thanks for sharing,
Donna

Donna - yes, the white heroes too - certainly John Brown will be there grinning from ear to ear!! :-) Thank you, Brooke

Yes... John Brown of Harper's Ferry fame. As the genealogist of the family (my adoptive family), the Holcomb family claims him as a descendant; so a distant relative... LOL
Thanks Brooke!
