It is terrible. I do hope Obama can salvage our economy. Linens n things also could not find a buyer and will be leaving 25K unemployeed. A wonderful social commentary on the current state of our economy.

Yes, and we have both stores in my neighborhood as well as KB toys - lots of people searching for new jobs all at once.
Thank you, Brooke

At first I thought this was a poem about "retail therapy" and that made it all the more poignant when I realized it's true message. Although the poem is written with no "classic" rhyme and metre, your choice of words and phrasing seem to make it so. A beautiful piece from a caring mind. Congratulations.

This cinquain has captured the essence of the economic tragedy with which so many Americans are faced. The "sad sighs" is almost a national anthem of employees facing job loss.

Hi Brooke,
Your poem well describes this win/lose situation that seems to be upon us these days. The sales are great for those still working, and must be bitter for those knowing their days are numbered.
Well written and presented.

This is a sad reminder to all of us. So many business closing and people out of work. You say it all very well without being overwhelming.

It would appear that most retailers are crying in their beer. A very well written short poem that clearly shows today's economic woes. Very good imagery and descriptive scheme.

Bravo. We are so proud of you for bringing up this subject in such a professional way.Sadly it's happening everywhere.
I don't think many people think about the far reaching repercussions of bankruptcies. They usually start a chain of events which effect far more people than the customer seeking the bargain can even realise.
Love and hugs

This is so sad, and its happening everywhere, so many people are feeling the brunt of this. Lets hope that we can come together as a nation and climb out of this mess...starting tomorrow!

Succinct message on the economy in general and the employees specifically. It's amazing to me that you can say so much in such a few words. That is a talent.
