You actually give me hope. My family is a tangled knot right now, no hitting, no drinking, but pretty messed up. If you all lived to forgive and move on ... there's hope in that. Blessings, Deb

your 6 words is very distrubing.
Having a drunk person strike at another person is not very good
Sounds like a very upset teenager who loves their mom

It's hard to find two and a half lines to say about six words! I'm sorry for this, your worst New Year, but glad that you have completely moved on. Good luck

I know what you're saying about reviewing these short things -- maybe they should have a check-off system for these. LOL. love, jan

well at least it did make a statement in the one line, and it is always a good thing when father is not killed for hitting mom, especially on new years eve.

What can I say, I relate! I know the editor wants me to say more but it's hard with these six word stories. Thank God it's not that way anymore, huh? Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest, Jan.

Love,

Jen *smile*

This is a sad story. It sounds like something you have been able to put behind you, but it is a pity that you had to experience it at all. I wish you the best of luck in this contest!

Hi, Jan
I guess anyone can be forgiven for one mistake and thankfully it was just the once, and not too serious I hope. My mum used ta clober my dad regularly. He was a drunk. He only fought back once and I knocked him out. I can laugh and feel sorry fa him now. Ray xx

Ray, I didn't have my left hook perfected at 16 so I just tried to choke him to death. Fortunately, it didn't work. He's been dead 7 years this March and I miss him greatly. He was wonderful when sober and we became extremely close as we aged. Forgiveness is most freeing. love, jan

What a compelling story for six words, and it certainly would qualify as the worst new year's eve ever - I am so glad you all got past this sad event!

It was a good thing you didn't kill him because if you would have killed him...Yeah, it wouldn't have been good. Anyways, good luck in the contest

I would have been out of jail by 18 or 21, at most, because back then they didn't try you as an adult. Besides, I could have claimed self-defense and likely would have won the case.

It's still a good thing you didn't...You probably wouldn't have been able to become a teacher if you had killed him...
