One of the most compelling paintings ever created - thanks so much, Gungalo. Brooke :-)
-
Yes it is. I also fine Hieronymus Bosch's paintings to be extremely interesting, bold and daring, and wayyyyy before his time.
-
He was a favorite of my husband, an art historian :-) I rather like him too.

How touching, heart breaking
a picture your words paint.
Brooke.
Every mother will feel the
pain of this grieving woman.
A clever piece of work,
Margaret.

WHOA!
That is about as deep as poetry (especially using so few words) can go.
That took my breath away!

You use only a few words, but your message is clear. I
was especially drawn to this line "Its agonizing sound can pierce her soul but never wakes her babe. It reminds me so many mother have lost their sons in war.

your description of war is simply moving, and i am glad i am not the only person to comprehend this fascinating beauty called passion. i can sense it in all of your writing, and so can others, and that is what seperates good writers from great ones. bravo.

And capture you did. An excellent word painting. Although I haven't seen the actual piece, your description has set me to wanting to see it and I will before the night is over. Thank you.

David, thank you - yes, to be in some village, far from any kind of military activity, and all off a sudden the bombs hit - unimaginable. Brooke

I know how this feels. My baby got real sick when he was 3 months old, and how well I remember being in the emergency tears streaming when I thought he might not recover. A horrible agony for any parent. Luckily for me it turned out fine. Bravo

Oh, I'm just the smartest person in the world. LOLOLOL I was married for a good while to an art historian - that helps with this - and I went to college and grad school for many years, which helps with some other stuff. Now, ask me some math and science questions to see how fast I can sound really stupid! LOL Thanks, Brooke

What a great poem! Having lived and worked in the Basque country for several years, as soon as I saw the reference to Guernica, I had to read your poem. I don't have enough superlatives. Thanks for the education you give us along with your wonderful poetry.

I am so gratified that a person familiar with this area and the people affected thinks my person did the story justice - thank you, Brooke
