Comment from Margaret Snowdon
Very cleverly worded, Brooke,
albeit a sad picture to paint.
Is this a series you are writing?
I've a lot of catching up to do,
so am out of touch.
Regards,
Margaret.

Yes, Margaret, an unfolding series with no rhyme or reason - just what painting or sculpture I fancy that day, Brooke

You know what I like best about your poems? They always remind me of something. This one reminds me of the time I was working retail and a large white bird slammed into the huge glass window at the front of the store. I was commissioned to clean it up. Not pretty. (Eww, did I just use a sentence fragment? Hahaha.)
This poem also goes well with the painting. I love it!

It was an intentional fragment that emphasized your point, so I won't refuse the review! LOL Thanks so much for sharing that most endearing story with me ;-) And thanks for the review! Brooke

Death begets life, and life death. If one was to believe in cyclic existence, then it is also necessary and, in taking its place as a fundamental part of nature, inherits beauty, depth, and profundity. Hence it is no surprise to me that death is such a fascinating and much-visited subject for those of an artistic bent. What we cannot emphatically know, we will always enjoy speculating about.

Also known as "typing whatever bollocks comes into my head", but damn if I don't enjoy doing it, and your poems are particularly good at setting me off :-)
Comment from Vallachi
It lies
rigid, claws curled,
beak parted, no breath left
to breathe, no songs to sing, nowhere
to fly.
thanks but I will take your word for it and not google for the picture of a dead bird
this was very informative and inspiring

This is sad. I think at one time they took pictures of the dead. This is what your piece seems to tell me. I will google and check out the picture.

Yes, as I say in my author's notes, I actually collected a few dozen of those photos at one time - they have since been sold. I wrote a long paper on one for a graduate class in material culture - our fascination with the dead can produce stunning images - thank you, Brooke

This is the second of your poems that I have read about paintings. You capture both paintings well with your words. Your notes add vividness and clarity. Well done.

This is a very interesting piece. I looked up the painting - it is very close to the image your poem stirred in my mind. (I had the bird pointing the other way). Very interesting piece and poem.

This again is very informative of the arts and interesting, but again the reader has to move elswhere to get the full effect of the poem, which is as it stands is about a dead bird, not very encouraging as a read that enables the reader to full see what you want them to.

I plan to do a whole series of these - I hope you're not going to give me a 4 over and over for this same reason. Most people have easily googled to see the image and, as I said before, many have expressed a desire for the ability to visualize it first without being influenced by the image. And, even if I decide I want the image, I still have to figure out have to do it with the lack of programs on my computer - I would ask you take that into consideration in reviewing future poems in the series. The answer to that is a no, I judge as I see and think fair in my own way, as you know my english is not up to scratch, but I do try and say what I think in a nice way as good as I can, if others think its fine then thats ok, this is just my view expressed in my own way,

Adewpearl,
Very well formatted and full of descriptive narrations. It seems that you did a lot of research for this piece. The flow was good. All arrangement is fine, smoothly readable and
understandable.
It is perfectly written and completely error free.
I look forward to seeing you again.
Love you,

I remember watching or reading an article wear in the younger days of our country and others they sat up the dead and took photographs. I think he was expressing a kinship of a sort. Boy girl you got me thinking today. joan marie.
