I enjoyed the story and was able to visualize the flow of events. It brought to mind a winter wonderland.
Refreshing with the touch of fantasy.

A delightful poem about the first winter's snow. Man I wish it would snow here, even though we have a 300 mile trip to make tomorrow. I'd still love to see it, maybe just enough to cover the ground?

Happy Holidays!

that's the kind of snow I like - a coating that is pretty but doesn't impede travel! Thanks so much, Brooke - have a safe and happy trip tomorrow :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke, you sure are in the lovely Christmas spirit. Here again a masterpiece of words which flow so well. How nice to have snow at Christmas and to go cavorting in all the whiteness. Wish I could do it more often.

Have a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for the contest. luv jada

Here in PA all it has done the past week is rain and rain with some freezing rain - it is doing that right now - not exactly the picture of Christmas! Thanks for your lovely review, Brooke

I think there needs to be "fairy" union. These wee ones are way over worked. You have them doing everything. That is the ultimate in outsourcing labor. I have never seen a fairy. I have unbelieving eyes....Merry Christmas, adewpearl.

Donovan, this poem is by request of my fairy-loving daughter who wanted a winter wonderland fairy poem - if the poor little things have to work to please my Miranda, then they are just going to have to work!!! Besides, with their magic, I don't think they have to labor all that hard.
It is sweet of you to care for them, though :-) Merry Christmas, you softy. Brooke

Hi adewpearl:

Quick, send Felicity to Louisiana. My tree is confused!

I have a large, lovely ornamental pear tree in my front yard. In springtime I call her my giant snowman tree because of the lovely white blossoms. In summer she provides shade for my yard and home for lots of feathered friends. In fall she drapes herself in a cloak of red and gold. In the winter she droops in gray while waiting to blossom again. The past three months have been hard on her; she has suffered four seasons. Hurricane Gustav came blowing and blew many of her summer leaves away. She put forth tiny new leaves along with fall foliage. Then along came a rare snowstorm bringing high winds and stripped her again. She is down to drab gray, but budding in hope. She could really use your feisty little fairy to help her out.

This is a delightful poem about nature's magic!

Jean, my heart goes out to your pear tree and everything else in your area that has gone through all that weather! You included :-) Thanks so much for this great review, Brooke

Would you believe we broke a heat record today? The previous record was 80 degrees and it reached 81 today. No wonder the poor tree is confused. All of the gulf coast is messed up. We lost so many trees due to Katrina and the ones that survived are not strong enough to withstand the elements. The six to eight inches of snow that we got on December 11th broke more limbs than the last hurricane.

This is your second poem I have found with faries in it. What a delightful and creative story. Your prose is always nice and tight, but still tells so much. Kudos. EL

What a lovely depiction of snowy winter - and a reminder to seek the beauty that lies in things cold and forbidding. I can picture this wonderful story as a tale for children, showing them the magic and wonder of the snow. Carolyn
