I was bored so I started going through my favorite writers older poems. I am glad I did. This is the best thing I have read from you. I love the idea of dying without regret. Very well done, my friend. - Sam

Sam, This is one of my best - thank you. I wrote a slightly different version of it for the funeral of a friend from church and then revised it for a contest here to take out specific references to him. Brooke

No wonder this is an all time best.
It's just perfect Brooke and a thought
that been definitely on my mind.
I have a struggle going on with that
C-word that makes us all step back and
then pray with hope as life goes on.

Thank you for going back and reading this one - as it is one of my favorites. I appreciate your warm comments, Brooke

Wow! that was quick. I try to always go back to give
my heart and eyes to a poet who has been kind
enough to review my work.
Reviews don't seem to come easy and I find it's
not easy to stay on the list long unless you have
the dollars and cents to pay for it.
Thanks again.

Wow I can see why she is number one. This was awesome. I love it!! I think we all have a way in which we would like to die and the author definitely conveyed their wishes clearly. And with great word choice.

I am honored that you went back into my portfolio to read this as it is one of the poems I am most proud of. Thank you for taking the time to review a piece that is not promoted any longer - I sure hope you take advantage of the ones that pay you something too!! :-) Brooke

Let me start on the visuals alone -- the flower with the matching blue prose. I always enjoy an author who knows the value of the visual with the word when they have the opportunity to put them together. Then of course, the poignant meaning with the words and the ideas with the acts. Just stunning, not surprised it took the prize. I can only hope I'll die feeling completely that way. Lovely.

I'm kind of a free-rolling spirit and like to hop around and meet everyone, Brooke. Taste and admire all talents. You're welc, exceptional poem.

Wonderful. Very nice and neat, without any wasted words. I like the repetition in each stanza. Clean rhyme and flow. There was nothing I disliked. Thank you.

How generous and kind of you, especially for a poem no longer promoted. I truly appreciate your reviewing just for the sake of reviewing, Brooke

Hi Ad,
It was the title that guided me to this one. The Die bit, not the Must, I of if.
Anyway, you've penned four stanzas here that say to me - if I must die, this is how I'd like it to be.
The only thing missing for me is afterwards. If I must die, what awaits me afterwards?
Maybe that's something you can write about another day.
Excellent write.

Frank, thank you so much for this most generous review of a work that is not even promoted any more. What awaits after, yes, that is food for thought for future work. Brooke
-
It's a shame that work which isn't promoted gets so neglected.
Think about all the great writing on this site that gets missed just because it hasn't got a big dollar sign next to it.
It's sad in a way and makes you wonder about why people are really reading the things they read.
-
I totally agree, especially as the prices have now inflated way beyond the stratosphere - the top poems now pay $1.20 - I earn my dollars by reviewing - to pay that much would make me have to review 24 hours a day with no eating or potty breaks!
-
lol, the eating you could do without, but the potty breaks...

You've expressed those universal feelings that so many of us are not able to express so lyrically and eloquently.
A lovely poem that needs no changes.

well written and if i were to write one paragraph of what you had written it would go something like this...
If i must die
(and we all must die)
will it that everyone is happy
will it that life is perfect and...
that i have a chance to say
the oh so simple words of goodbye...

Hi Brooke,
YES!! That's how I want to go. I've already told my family & friends that they are to have a big party immediately after my funeral. 'Course, I intend to have a big party on my 50th as I did my 40th. Hate I'll miss the big one after my funeral!! LOL
Wonderful poem. Thanks always for sharing.
