A sweet poem and fits the carol well. I like your visualization of her selflessness for watching, even as she reached her goal, she was happy to complete her task as opposed to trumphant and bold. Keeping with the humility. Well done on this holiday poem.

Wow, what an intriguing picture.

You're also so clever to insert one of your pretty fairies into Bethlehem.

Could there be another word in place of the second "so" in the fourth stanza? And, don't the last two stanzas need quotes too, because God is still speaking?

My favorite stanza is the lovely sixth with God's whispering in rich rhyme.

Nice story. So, is this a fabel of old or did you concieve the ferie tending the sheep idea?

Must have been nice to get a promotion from sheep watcher to Christmas fairy.

Thanks for posting.

the fable is all mine - the meaning of the holly is old, but a fairy at the birth of Jesus is from my imagination. :-)
Hey, with your ability to get promoted to positions you're not exactly qualified for, you might try to displace her! LOL
    Thanks, brooke

Wow. Another stunner. You are like a pixie yourself sprinkling your magical stardust over the Christmas fayre. A truly inspired work.

This was a terrifically written holiday poem. I loved how the artwork matched the piece with the lone star in the sky.

It's different that you mentioned a fairy tending the sheep so the shephards could sleep.

Hello Brooke,

This is very good. It entertains while teaching. You can't ask for much nmore than that in a poem. The rhymes are not forced, and the cadence is steady. It is a very good read.

My daughter is a fairy person, so I write many fairy poems for her - she is, after all, the light of my life! Thank you, Brooke

Hi Brooke,

You certainly are knowledgeable about the Bible. I think I know more than most do, however you have me beat all the pieces. Interesting tale.

Well, I pretty much made this one up! LOL It is true, however, that shepherds were considered the lowest of low professions then, which is why Biblical scholars say they were purposely included in the Christmas story, to emphasize that Jesus was sent for the neediest and most everyday people! Thanks ever so much, Brooke :-)
