Brooke,
You have penned another wonderful piece here with "Richard III in A-Z Land." You do have Richard III down to a tee if I do remember back that far. Nice job. k

He was a fun one to write about - pure evil, the nasty kind that makes for a classic villain! Thanks, Brooke

If you ever decide to forego the poetry, you could probably work for Sparks Notes. A great little summary of a favorite classic wrapped up in oth the poem and your author's notes. Terror

thank you so much for that fine compliment! I spent many years in grad school studying American Studies, which includes lots of American literature, so I have written many a literary essay. This is more fun - not 25 pages long! LOL
    Thanks, Brooke

adewpearl,

COOL another alphabetical exercise plus a lesson on billy shakespier...LOL

I envision these poems in a fourth or fifth grade text book in which kids can learn poetry's inticate lessons, plus a glossary of the words for a vocabulary building session, all on a skilfully designed page filled with subject-appropriate artwork.

This page, for instance, could be one of the royal coats of arms, the animal poems could be on a background of hippos or sea-horsies or whatever animal the poem is about...

just a thought...

well done

rick

Rick, I don't know how advanced kids are in your neighborhood, but around here Shakespeare's plays are several years beyond fourth and fifth grade!! LOL Not just for the reading skills level but because little ones don't usually read about this much murder and mayhem. ;-) Thanks for your most interesting review, Brooke

well maybe you can leave richard the third out but all the animal ABC poems with the tremendous vocabulary would really be an inovative way to teach poetry and good vocabulary skills early in life...

    love the stuff...

Awesome, I love history! I am currently reading 4 books(yes I have one in every room of the house!) A true account of a roman murder mystery and trial in 1648, a book on Napoleon, A book on the last emperess, and a book on English Bawds. I have read extensively on rulers , whether they be good or bad. Your poem is dead on to everything ever read about Richard, your author notes are great for anyone who does not have knowledge of him.

I remember reading Richard III in high school, we even acted it out. This is a good description of the story, you give a clear picture of story.

Hey, JoLynn liked the non-existent x words here!! You're a royal pain, but since your poetry is so entirely exquisite, I will let it ride. The winter poem is grand. If that one doesn't win that contest, taste has just gone down the drain here. By the way, my poem is so much better than just a "good job." LOL Brooke

lol well it is better than "good job" but I really do like almost everything you write so much that i am running out of ways to say your work is grand...

this one just took hours and hours and hours - for real even - you're allowed to get a bit hyperbolic in your praise for one that took hours and hours and hours! LOLOL

Very original and well thought out Lots of C words though! It reminds me of when I found 487 one word things (derogatory things) you could say about love i.e. love abandons or love hurts etc. I enjoyed the read!

Another great A-Z poem.

You have told the Shakespearean play 'Richard III' in a thorough and fun way!

It's unbelievable how you summarized the story in a few short paragraphs. (Author notes)

You must keep a dictionary nearby. LOL I'm learning new words with each A-Z you write. ;)

Great fun.

a great piece of writing, based on the story of another great piece of writing. I'm glad you included the details at the end, my shakespeare is a little rusty after many years of not reading it. Your choice of words was wonderful and complex. Great work.
