Brooke, You have a habit of taking this small city girl out of the city and introducing her to all sorts of strange critters in your own unusual way. It is wonderful, I always learn so much from what you write about and the way in which you write.
Onerous packs quash recipients.
Rebellion reaffirms,
renews.
Renounce subservience -
Spit!
Stubbornness teaches us valor -
Vomit!
Wage war!
X-tricate yourself.
Maybe we should all put ourselves in the shoes of the llama every now and then. k

Glad you appreciated the way the llama deals with his plight!
Thank you, Brooke :-)

This is very funny, as I live near a llama farm and know exactly what you refer to. I had never thought of them as bartleby, but now I will never think of them any differently. The last line in this is so perfect...zilch. really pounds it home.

Boy, I must admit I learn so much from your poetry. Not only do I get the chance to enjoy your craftmanship, but my knowledge increases as well.
Who can ask for more?

This is a really clever poem, your authors notes were very informative and interesting. they explained all about the Llama which i knew nothing about. They helped the reader understand the poem

The llama as a role model--never thought about it. But I do recall the story of Bartleby the Scrivner (and other Herman Melville shorter stories).I once had a junior officer who decided he wasn't going to "take it anymore"; he stenciled the name, "Bartleby" on his fouol-weather jacket. However, he didn't spit or lie down on the job. Poetry does its job when it entertains, makes one think, or brings back memories. Yours did that. Thanks. JS

They are becoming quite popular over here in NZ, a lot of the kiddies animal farms are getting in on having a pair. I think you description describes them well and your notes were perfect, all in all a very good presentation.

adewpearl, This one still has my tongue tied in knots. Though I may not have all these poems figured out. They do give me a lot to think about. Another well thought out piece.

I enjoyed your prose and your poem. You A-Z's are always entertaining and informational.
"Onerous packs quash recipients." - this made me laugh. Great wording.

Nic, thank you - wouldn't be much point if they didn't make sense! LOL Brooke

Amen to that -- but I have read some (not on FanStory) that seem to be a list of words in alphabetical order - without any particular theme. LOL ;)

I've heard that about llamas. I guess they know their own minds. I've read that they are more intelligent than their cousins, the camels. I like your alphabet poem about them. (The one-L lama, he's a priest. The two-L llama, he's a beast...)

I enjoyed your poem. The preface to the poem did add some insight into the world of the llama. I also liked to description-an animal A-Z. Your word choice was inspired. Thank you.
