I am who is found within -
My self alone knows who I've been.
Yes is an answer found within -
Open hearts know this has always been.
Uttered now, let new life begin.
A journey of self discovery and being content with who we are, the secret to life.
Brooke, I must say that I love this piece that you have penned. It is a strong message that I firmly believe in (though it took a number of years to come to that realization). There is nothing in this piece that I would even consider changing. k

Thanks so very much - this was my first ever acrostic and I spent a great deal of time and thought on it - I am so pleased you like it and took the time to review though no longer promoted! Brooke

This is very much a life-affirming bit of poetry, and an interesting bit of background to go with it. It also speaks of the internal power of the individual, something in which I believe quite strongly. I guess it goes hand in hand with self-esteem :-)

Yes, you've hit the nail on the head - one with inner esteem does not crave outer recognition as there is no need for that affirmation. A most perceptive review - thank you! Brooke

I like the humor and I think I like how it made me ponder a bit.
The title too really got my attention, well done with that.
Interesting poem I like the questions you asked.
Much love,
Justmade.

Brooke - I still don't know how you find the time to write these wonderful poems. I have trouble just figuring what I'm going to write about. Loved the poem, the rhyme and the pace. Charlie.

With all due respect to Emily, if your poem and her poem were the only entrants in a contest, you'd get my vote. I think you've done a superb job here!
The lines below are so simple, yet so poignant.
My self alone knows who I've been.
No person met can share my blame,
Or for that matter, triumphs claim.
Yes is an answer found within -
Very well done!

Lois, that is truly a lovely thing to say though I place Emily above Shakespeare, let alone above me. But I'm not complaining! :-D Thank you so very much, Brooke

Well, in these two poems you excel, other than than, I cannot attest to!

Well, emily would be very proud of this one. You did a wonderful job Brooke.
Why lose the self in quest for fame?
How great the sacrifice for gain?
This could be a poem for "young hollywood"

This poem was truly beautiful. Stood in faith to thine be true. Truths cannot be found in a book only in one's experience. Well done! Regards, Lori

I love the first two lines they caught my attention and intrigued me to read on. It's clever how you answer the question in the title of the poem, "Who are you?". I really like it!

I wasn't a big fan of Emily Dickinson but your poem is wonderfully written and I think some could even relate to this. Good luck in the contest
