loved this sonnet form. Nice flow, images, rhythm and rhyming schemes where is this garden anyway? I like the second stanza the best - just like the images and the word choices you employed

What irony that the life span of a beautiful rose is so short, yet its thorns stay forever. (There may be a lesson in there.)

Alas, we failed to hear your soft alarm,
Your petals died, as our discarded youth.

A unique metaphor here.

My wonderful male friend gave me a dozen deep coral roses for my birthday. I watch sadly as their edges gray and petals fall on the table. But the symbol will always stay there as we both wait for covid to end and we can be together again.

    Thank you for the beautiful review. There no flower more beautiful or more proud as the red rose. Alas, it is just as fragile as the other flowers and there is antidote for aging, as least where flowers are concerned. A beautiful story of your friend giving you a dozen of deep coral roses. We are all waiting for the pandemic to end, but sometimes I wonder: Will it? I hear more horror stories or some states doubling the cases.

    Let's all pray, at times like this it is all we have left.

    Thanks for the stars, love, Y.

What a beautiful description of some of the most beautiful flowers on earth: roses! The poem's language is so beautiful, and the rhymes are clever. Also, there are several excellent examples of alliteration in this poem. Great job!

This is really good work filled with great feeling and emotion. You've done an excellent job of comparing the attributes of the rose to life experience. I enjoyed reading this inspirational and well written work. Well done!

Hello External Muse,
I pray you are having a great day. This is a great descriptive poem of a beautiful red rose. Your words are so beautifully written of the character of a rose. This is such a beautiful line, "Red rose, your wisdom will transcend the Time, All wrapped in passion, clover, sage and rhyme." This will be a great chapter in your book. Well done. Congratulations on your seal of quality award. Well-done poem. Happy writing:-)

So very well written, Muse. Sorry, I don't know your given name. Do you mind telling me what it is?

The theme of this sonnet, being the rose and all of its attribute is probably a difficult poem to write and still do it justice, isn't it?

Loved these lines especially well:
"The virgin velvet spelled unbroken vow;
Your incandescent glamour took me whole...."

Bravo Wonderful writing. : ) Bob

This sonnet is excellent in every respect. Through descriptive, appealing personification, you parallel the short-lived glory and beauty of the rose with that of young love. A fine sonnet
