Beautifully written sonnet. I love the subject you chose and that you managed to tell a poignant love story complete with heartbreak. Turned a touching twist. Too real ; ( Well done.

to the bright red rose.
-You show the beauty of
the rose in the opening
verses, and then have
a good turn as
"we failed to hear your soft alarm."
-A very good closing couplet,
especially the last line.
-Very well done.

Certainly a nice tribute to the flower of flowers. Perhaps a reminder that I have not delivered any to a special lady in a while. It won't keep me out of the doghouse, but it improves the meals. Anyway, nice flow and feel. I enjoyed it.

This sonnet surely reminds me of a master in this form that used to write here. I'm sure this would do him proud.
The form and meter are spot on. A simple idea made lush. No suggestions. The ending is perfect, IMHO

I like the two lines, the last two lines and everything in between. You described the process of a rose which has gone through. From fresh and beautiful, it became a sage who is full of wisdom.
