Hi Yeltel - a beautiful English sonnet in good iambic pentameter. Perfect consistent abab rhyme scheme throughout. The content of the poem is lovely and the turn in stanza 3 is very good. I love the rhyming couplet. Good use of alliteration in 'virgin velvet'. Lovely read. Warm regards Dorothyx

An excellent rhymed poem. The nature presents it's beauty through infinite appearances of different entities; the Rose is one of the best. But cycle of creation and destruction, cycle of birth and death is an inevitable event of nature. One comes with vigor, youth, and then passes away leaving behind the sweet memory and feeling of loss.

Yes the symbolism of the rose have been explored to mean more than just giving a message of love and passion. It could mean too the loss of youth and vibrance, the fragility of the youth and its impulsiveness. But the message of a poem will never lose its aura and will transcend even beyond time. I enjoyed the poem.

This is so beautiful! I will never look at roses the same way again. Nature has much to teach us - but as your sonnet so poignantly pointed out, we seldom listen. Great job!

Elegant poem. No doubt a winner of many minds. Lloyd Byron eat your heart out. Modern day poetry has opened a new window with Red Rose.

This is a beautiful poem! Your language is rich: reverie, virgin velvet, incandescent glamour, silent bow, soft alarm, discarded youth. The rhythm is lilting, too, especially the last line. Excellent work!

This captures the importance of appreciating those things that we have in life. And not just by taking a passing snapshot. For although such things have longevity, they cannot capture the softness of a flower's petals , the sharp bite of the thorn, or the sweetness of its scent.
