Beautiful! One of the nice things about being gone from fanstory for a little while is having so much wonderful reading just waiting to be savored!

In what part of Pennsylvania do you live?

Great imagery and I liked the photo. Where was it taken? Looks anything from south-western to Australian!

I live 3 miles from Valley Forge, between Valley Forge and Norristown. Why do you ask? Do you know the state? The photo is from FanArt - have no idea where it's from. Thanks so much, Brooke :-)

I do know the state fairly well. My late husband was from Sharpsburg, just outside of Pittsburgh. And, as a birder, I've visited Hawk Mountain, of course! I love Western PA, as well as the Amish country. Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Waters is one of my favorite places. It's a beautiful state. We used to go there every Christmas, when Pittsburgh was most often covered with snow; the first time I saw it in the summer --late 60's-- I couldn't believe the 'steel mill' feel of it. In later years, all traces of the mills disappeared and the town changed. I think the bridges of Pittsburgh are some of the greatest photo shots around. The Johnstown Flood story is still fascinating to me, as are the Pittsburgh floods.

I have been to Valley Forge and the surrounding area. Is it pretty chilly right now? About the only part of PA that is pretty foreign to me is Philly.

Anyway, PA is the setting for tons of good memories for me and I sometimes miss that part of my life, I guess.

Yes, it is quite chilly now - and the past couple of days were extremely rainy, and rain and cold are a miserable mix. Pittsburgh is five hours from here - I've only been there a few times. I am only two hours from NYC and three from Washington, D.C
so I've always felt much closer to them than the western half of my own state. Where are you?

Mesquite, TX -- just outside of Dallas. My home state is Louisiana, but since 1963, I've always felt more of an identity with PA. (Wonder why I'm living here! lol) My late husband was an only child and my mother-in-law sort of adopted me as her daughter. (Both of my parents were dead.) Bets was a wonderful woman and made me feel extra special. Most of the people with whom I identified in Pittsburgh are gone now. Have one uncle who's in his 80's and he moved here to be near my kids and I.

Beautiful image selection. Good presentation and color scheme. Good use of rhythm and rhyme. You created great imagery with your words.

Well written and thought provoking little piece of writing. I've been to the Cleveland Museum and was impressed with the piece. A great write that makes you wonder at what wonders her eyes have seen.

Wow. Another stunner. I believe that the star I am gazing is this author. And as a Cleveland resident, do you think I have been to the museum of art more than once. Not since 7th grade. And between you and me that was quite a few weeks ago. I have a book started about star watching and a young fellows adventure as he tries to note their movement in the sky, funny how you have the topic here on FS. I don't have to believe that people have been watching stars for thousands of years, I know it's true. I think that somewhere between our youth and older in age we lose that vision of the twinkling star and the dreams and wishes that go with watching them. It's to bad that the in between years are lost looking down and inward. The promise of hope is looking up. I beieve you captured that in your poem. As always thanks for sharing. mstad55

Many people visit places like museums as tourists and pass up their own town's - get thee to that museum - it is a fantastic one! Thanks for this great review, Brooke :-)

Interestingly enough, that was my CB handle when 2-way communication was all the rage.
My friends gave me that name because I'm always looking up in the sky. This work gave me pause for thought, that we are not so far removed from our ancestors as we might have thought.
The stars tie us together on this world, and through time.
Very nice.

I just love this poem, philosophical, sensitive, inspiring and deep, besides, instructive. I enjoy the style and images besides... Thank you.

Have your eyes the ages' secrets captured?
Is that omniscience in your steady gaze?
Or are you by twinkling light enraptured
as heavenly candles most beauteously blaze?

Hullo Adewpearl .....

I enjoyed reading this free-thought writing because, like you - and no doubt like most other people - I have so often looked at the stars, thinking, like you, about
the Three Kings from the East who followed the star to
Bethlehem - about the countless sailors who navigated using the stars as their only guide .... and about little children, down through the centuries, who have been enraptured by looking at the same stars that we see now - still in the same position in which God placed them in the beginning. Now, in my latter years, when I look up at the stars, I think of members of my family in different parts of the world who see the stars, just as I do.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from ...... Nanette Mary.

Nanette Mary, what a most lovely commentary - so philosophical. I love it when something I wrote causes someone else to think and feel. You are most kind to give me this sort of feedback. Peace, Brooke

This is a beautiful poem.
I can relate to the story, and the questions posed, as I love to gaze at the heavens whenever I can.
They not only show me how minute we actually are, they also give an insight to the vastness of heaven.
The poem is intriguing with the deep philosophical questions being asked.
To my mind, a profound piece of poetry, well written and presented.
Best wishes
Lawrie
