You brought back memories of the film 'The Omen' where the son of Satan sent out the ravens to kill those who did not agree with his plans to become President!I liked your poem because you more than adequately describe the much hated harbinger of death in many cultures.

Thank you so much for yet another positive review - please just get back to me on the one you gave me a 4 for as you did not indicate why that one fell short for you :-)

Okay Pearl, you're treading on sacred ground here. The Raven - one of my favorites and I only expect the best from you on this one. I do see a bird setting on that upper branch in the picture but I had to look kind of hard, but of course, maybe that's part of his mystique. I understand also your need to include a glossary :)

"Brashbrazen, black-cloaked chorister."
(very apt and well stated)

"Inscrutable,ill-bred, ill-fated iconoclast,
incite insurrection -
issue insinuations -
impugn justice."
(the perfect image of this feathered Blackbeard)

"Nefarious nightrider,
nocturnal nomad.
Nevermore."
(excellent image)

I don't miss the cute little kitties. Thanks for the poem!

Thank you - the raven might be small in this image, but in other photos it just looked like some bird - not ominous or mood-inducing. :-) I'm so glad I didn't disappoint you and that you found favor with some of my images :-) Mr. Poe is a favorite of mine, so I would not like to disrespect him.
    Thanks so much,Brooke :-)

What a strong sense of Halloween I feel in the air! Nothing could be a better choice than the ominous raven to set the mood. Great writing. Happy Halloween! LadyMary

Oh, of COURSE ... what else conjures up Poe and the Raven like this spooky season ... while his original wasn't intended as such, somehow, the stigma has been cast upon it. SUperb again doll! Lea

Oh, stop it... you are giving me goose bumps :) You can see a raven any other time of year, but when it's near Halloween it just looks spookier and eerier (sp)
Great job again.

Your thesaurus must get a serious workout when you write these A-Z poems. Really terrific job of setting the mood and describing all of the raven's attributes, both mythical and mystical. Great word choices, good rythmn and flow. Awesome job!

your vocabulary is very humbling. its nice of you to explain what the words mean, because often i have no clue. but i really like it that way. i like that you can use words ive never even heard before so masterfully. very nice.

I had one young guy dock a star because he didn't know all the words LOL I'm like you - I get all excited at the chance to look up a new word. :-) Thank you so much for your great review - and at the very second Brian Westbrook just sealed the victory for the Eagles! LOL A lovely review and a win for my team at the same time - life hardly gets better! Brooke

Mehhh . . .

A LOT of this reads like a basic listing of the raven's qualities, not a linear story set in poetic form.

It WORKS, but it could be a little better, I think. Given the parameters of the A-Z format, I'm not sure how that would be managed.

Havent seen this type of writing before, but what can I say. It really does it for me.

I really need to spend more time poring over a dictionary. You use the language so effectively, creating mood and rhythm. Hope to see more of these

You did a great job on setting the tone for this, it was evident to me within the first couple sentences; then again, i know the quality of your work.
Liked the black background, sorta reminded me of how poe might have displayed a poem or peice. And the pic is suiting for it doens't show a 'in your face shot of the raven', it's more subtile. So it enhances mood more than the description of a raven.
Waiting for more,
LA
