This has really great imagery and subtle, yet powerful descriptions that gave me goosebumps! A great first read for this newbie and sets the bar really high for all future reads! Thanks for sharing your faith so beautifully.

Thank you so much. I am thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed the story. Writing spiritual fiction is my favorite.

Janilou is not ranked numero uno of nothing... The Sparrow and the Savior sounded more like one of those connotations of self-reflective and religious books... as if reading an extended chapter of the Purpose Driven life or a narration of a priest during homily... How fascinating...

What wonderful, powerful message. You just need to have some kind of separation besides extra space to introduce each vinettte, I was a little lost at first. Also, I think God would spare the baby birds too.

Thank you very much. I've been told anything but extra spaces is frowned upon these days. Sigh. I appreciate the review. In a perfect world, no doubt He would spare the baby birds, but here where I live, the storms do take them.

Congratulations jan.
This is actually exceptional but I have no six, as is often the case. I love the way you smoothly moved from the sparrow to the child, and the poem too. I believe there is also a place that says "no sparrow falls to the ground but He knows". Praise God from whom all blessings flow, was something I heard my mother repeat often. Thanks for this wonderful read. fondly, rebecca

Thank you so much for this review or comment. I have reached a point where I cannot hope to catch up with my reviews in need of answering without resorting to a carbon copied response. I hate doing it, but with 700 plus unanswered, I can't keep up! Goat kidding season is looming, and we are spending more and more time outside preparing our buildings. My muse is driving me crazy trying to write as much as she can, before we end up on our three-to-four month sabbatical. LOL. I'm hoping you will forgive me. I have read every review, corrected nits and errors found and carefully considered every suggestion made. I am so glad you have enjoyed my work, or at felt it worthy of a comment.
I am trying to review your work as much as I can also, and by using a C.C. here, I have more time left to read all your wonderful stories, articles and poems, as well!
Hugs,
Jani
PS Knowing you wanted to award six stars is good enough for me! :-)

You are so talented Jan and so filled with a rare and raw goodness it is astounding.
"Scattered across the rocks, a few crumbs are the only sign of food. A steady trail of black ants streams across the rough surface in single file as they carry the life-saving nourishment back to their underground home. The rocks begin to hum and the ants stop. Each shiny black head looks up and listens as He steps over their home and kneels by a mound covered by yellow, red and brown leaves."
This is a fantastic paragraph with great language utilized for a prfound yet simplistic message of faith. I envy those with faith and feel it is a gift like all other gifts given at birth; beauty, intelligence, physical strength, passion, rhetorical skills all are gifts and I think the ability to believe in the absence of solidity is also a gift and you have that gift along with many others good friend. Superior!! easy

WOW, this is really good! I really enjoyed how you went from bird, to boy, to... Great job! :-)
The verse that you used is good but clarification is needed. "Fear" here ,in th Hebrew, actually means to worship. He wants us to worship Him not fear him in the way we fear things in a negative way. Of course he could destroy us but He sent his Son to die for us because HE is not willing that ANY perish.
If He care for a sparrow how much more HE cares for you and I.:-)
I will be sure to watch for more of your work. Good job.

Oh, Janilou! I am not usually into religious stories, but you have written this remarkably well!! And believe it or not, I have really enjoyed reading it. You added your magic writer's touch to this and brought the story and the moral 'alive'. It is extremely well written. Good Luck in the contest. Marion.
