Your poem is six words so it gets five, Skye. However, as the Apostle Paul said, "The strength of sin is the law." That in short means that when you lay down the law (as a parent does to a child and why the law died on the cross) all they can think of is doing that which they are told they cannot do. It's human nature. Teenage pregnancy has more to do with not being educated on what happens when you have sex without protection and parents setting the example than it does with God "being taken out of the schools." You cannot take God out of a child who has been brought up in the proper manner. It isn't the school's responsibility to do a parent's job. Sorry.

Thanks for the review and comments. Your support is appreciated. Your shining stars made my day. You are absolutely correct. I agree absolutely with you that it is the home and parents job. It did work in the 6 words, and our schools are far more dangerous now than they were before prayer was taken away. Thanks again.

Brilliant write! GOD EXPELLED - I must admit that the comments helped me understand this line better, and hat the artwork augments the impact of The piece and gives the reader direction for angle of interpretation.

I am sure this one may fare wall in the voting booth. Best of luck.

Warm Regards,

A fine attempt, but I feel it needs something. Perhaps it's just too subtle for me. The connection between God being expelled from high school and teen-age pregnancy is too remote.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Thanks for the review and comments. Your support is appreciated. Without the teaching or morality, both at home, where it is essential, and in our schools, where it is necessary, the children will continute to make choices that impact their lives and ours, forever.

You went to a high school where they expelled God! Had a look at the other reviews and see you're talking about prayers in schools. At least, in the UK we still call it Christmas! Fine contest entry skye!

Hi skye! Well done, my dear. Isn't it beyond words how they can remove the Lord's Prayer from school, but allow to go on what does occur on a regular basis? I can't believe how much things have changed.
Enjoyed this. Best wishes in the contest.
Do take care.

Would it not be truer to say that what was removed was enforced prayer? You cannot stop people from praying if they are of a mind to; making them do it can only breed resentment.

Anyway, enough of my thoughts. I think you created a story masterfully with so few words. Very impressive :-)

Thanks for the review and comments. Your support is appreciated. Your shining stars made my day. You are absolutely correct. Enforced prayer was removed. Prayer is always allowed, silently in our hearts and minds, but we need to teach our children out loud.

That is a stong statement, but sadly, so often true. I do not know why the schools have forbidden Christian prayer in schools. Muslims demanded their constitutional rights to pray and they are allowed by law the right to pray in schools.

Thanks for the review and comments. Your support is appreciated. Your shining stars made my day. The Engel v. Vitale decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1962 prohibited only state-mandated prayer in public schools classrooms. We should ask for our rights again.. and this time keep them. Thanks.

My Goodness...What a great six word story. It is powerful, conveys a message and is an actual story. This is a dynamic as Hemmingway's. Congratulations on your entry. You are special....very special..

Only you can understand how these six words came to be... and how important they are to everyone. Thanks for the review, the comments, and everything else.

Do you mean got expelled, or are you suggesting you were expelled for religious/moral reasons by using the word God?
Either way, you really do tell a six word story that is quite dramatic - some entries are not actual stories, and I always prefer the ones that are. Great illustration, too.

No, As a nation we expelled God from school when we allowed them to take prayer out of public schools.
This is NOT about me, but a story in 6 words. Thanks, for the thoughts, review, and stopping by.
