It is interesting to read what books that different people like. You are obviously in love with this book and give us a short run down on its plot and characters. This is an interesting contest and I wish you luck in it.

If you like to read, you should really try this one! You are obviously a person who lives your life, at least part of it, at the fringes, and this book deals with that a great deal, especially in the character of Darl, the young man who narrates 19 of the chapters, more than anyone else. Labelling theory in sociology, which states that those people are deviant who are successfully labelled deviant by society, quotes this book and people's views of Darl.

Your review of the classic As I lay Dying was wonderfully done. The diversity of the Faulkner characters still resonant today with the varying personalities found in most families.

This is a well written review. And yes, I want to read this bood. You've explained the plot beautifully. And how you covered the characters alone, sold me. Great job.

This essay urged me to read Kafka, an existential writer from the late 1800's early 1900's can't remember. Sometimes he just wrote a line or two and sometimes only a paragraph or two. You could become intimate with his characters. Made me want to say read this! Even though his work is far from what we live today he managed to write in a way we can replace todays problems and world problems with the ones he write's of. Interesting how my exhausted mind, (car broke down of way home)just got perked up with your essay. joan marie

First I would like to say, that I have read this wonderful and charming (well,?) book myself and I also will have to say that it is one of my all time favorites. Now I can say, 'That a girl adewpearl!' You have so charmingly and down to earth gave this book review so very, very well. You didn't beat around the bush and you highlighted some of the most interesting aspects of both the story line and characters, while inviting the literary seeking public looking for an excellent book and story to snuggle down with by hitting on the personal and relativity to each character that the reader would relate with. I think you did an excellent job on the review. So much so, that I believe I am going to sit down tonight and read the book again! It has been a while since I last did so. Thanks for the wonderful review of this book and for reminding me how good of a story it is.
