adewpearl, your ability to stir emotion through wonderfully written words is exemplary. You have a poignant elegance in the way you write, which any reader would be hard-pressed not to be moved by. If I could write poetry like yours . . . *sigh*

I really liked the voice in this piece. You always seem to do so well and I am wondering: does anyone find errors or can't find anything to relate to with your stuff? I enjoyed this. Please, take care.

You would be surprised. Most people do relate to my poetry and write very complimentary reviews. But yesterday I muted a man who was extremely off-putting in his review of another poem. He said not one word about the content or meaning of the poem at all, but gave me a 3 because he said it didn't have iambic pentameter in all of its lines, and he assumed I intended for it to be a sonnet though I never labelled it a sonnet and it was not in a sonnet contest. When I pointed this out, he got condescending in his reply, so I had had enough. I have a few more tales to tell. Happily, most people find meaning, enjoy themselves and write kind things :-) I do so hope you steer clear of the meanie reviewers because they can ruin anyone's day :-) Thanks so much for your warm and gracious reviews. :-) Peace, Brooke

This is a beautiful poem. What a lovely story, and you tell it well. A very touching piece, full of meaning and emotion. A mature and professional write that has been my pleasure to read and review. Excellent work! I just love this poem.
The author's note is most appreciated and adds to your poem.

I too had the entire set (or my family did) back way then. The books, in about 10 years, became outdated and I can't remember what my parents did with them. I think they were given to the local library.
I enjoyed all the books with pictures and especially the "P" with the many beautiful and colorful pics of those famous paintings.
Well done.
Are you still writing the poems with the "wacky" words. I looked forward to them.

I will have more wacky word poems in a while, but am now busy trying to write my very first scary poem for Halloween, and that is taking some effort! Thanks for asking - give me a couple of weeks. Thanks for such a lovely review :-)

I thought this was good and enjoyable. I think if it were mine I would switch the second and third stanza. the second stanza kind of leads into the rest of the poem about the painting and the third stanza interupts that flow by talking about childhood again.
Thanks,
Casey

So true adew; those things our parents give us are such treasures to keep always. Don't know what happened to our set of encyclopedias, but there's always the net!
I enjoyed reading your journey through the great artists, and the world that opened up to you through seeing their work and reading about them. I also thought it was wonderful your father had such high hopes for you, and didn't limit you to a dowry and being stuck behind the kitchen sink.
Again, you took me down a very nostalgic laneway, and I find myself remembering a huge Atlas we had that I was always fascinated by.
Great work again my friend that I did enjoy very much! xoxoxoxoxo

I really enjoyed this poem. It reminded me when I was a kid and my mom (Permelia on FS) gave me a book to read about geography and history and I read about the Taj Mahal and swore someday I would go there (and I did).
What I especially loved about this poem was how the paintings made you feel. Each painter with their style and suject matter brings out a completely different emotion and experience and I felt you captured that perfectly.
