Some people are just born to take it easy. I thought this was very cute. and reminds me of those stories of the ants and the grasshopper.

I really liked the expressionism you chose for this poem
your form and format were just right for this verse
this has some excellent language usage in its phrases
all in all it was a very well expressed piece of poetic art... John

I love how stories expire like they're homogenized milk. :-)

I am a lot like Freddy, and I don't know if I should add, "sad to say." Seems to me, he's got it right. This is a very nice portrait and I could really relate. I could relate to both sides, as I am a hypocrite! LOL Adam

Many many readers, it turns out, have a big old soft spot in their hearts for Freddy, and so do I, which is why he gets to rock into old age at the end as opposed to Petunia who gets blown to bits in another poem in the series or the gossip girls who die old and friendless in another. I think it comes from so many of us being too damned caught up in the rat trap - we just need to figure out who was subsidizing Freddy's porch and get a piece of that action!!! :-) Thanks for a most thoughtful review :-)

I think I've worked with more than one Freddy over the years ... LOL This is cute. I loved the comment about him going along on cruise control. My position is usually that I have too many things I want to do and not enough hours in the day to get them done. The thoughts of sitting back and letting life pass me by are terrible.

Nice work.

So Freddy just dilly-dallied
as he watched each day unfold.
Then he moseyed up to the front porch swing
and rocked till gray and old.

LOL Freddy must have had rich relatives if he was able to goof off until he got old and grey. What a waste! :-)

I enjoyed your poem very much. I didn't see any errors.

Yes, I'm assuming he must have had someone paying for that porch he was rocking on! Would be nice to live the existence of the eternal dreamer if only the bills didn't arrive monthly! :-) Thanks for this thoughtful review!

Readers have taken a liking to Freddy, unlike the people with foibles in my other comic poems, and I quite agree, which is why he rocks into old age at the end. I believe many of us have a Freddy deep inside, longing to come out and rock with him - now we just all have to win the damned lottery!
Thanks for a lovely review, as always

This is another one of your little foolish bits of whimsy that bring a smile. Poor Freddy, not really living, just kind of existing! Then again, many would give anything for that life. well done.

Yes, most people on this site long for a seat on the porch right next to him - too bad we are not all independently wealthy! Thanks for your lovely review.

Great job on this piece. It's very descriptive and I enjoyed every word. The flow and rhyme were spot on. Good job, carry on and God bless.

Some people spend all their lives in 'mosey' mode to the exasperation and irritation of others. I personally know someone who is in that mode and can do less in more time than anyone I know. Your poem is one I can certainly identify with. It was a very amusing write. Blessings to you, Linda
