Wow, Brooke, where was I when you were posting these poems? They just get better and better.
You have many inspriational/motivational stanzas in this poem, packed with awesome imagery and excellent rhetorical questions.
Brooke, you have courage beyond your belief. To write with such skill, insight and intensity as you do takes courage. Just set your goals and strive to reach them. Don't become discouraged even if obstacles arrive your way, and never, never lose faith in God or yourself. Take the leap in 2009!

I need to hire you as my own personal motivational speaker except I don't have any money. Thank you so very much for saying things I need to hear so badly - now I need to act on them!! Brooke

I just love your heart felt emotions. So, true are your words. I can not see anything that needs work. I applaud you. Excellent!

I know.I know. This one is one of the oldie but goodies...I am just reading it and taken pointers from it. When you look at it like this, you wonder about Man's ability. He is the highest form of life, yet an old rock can trust more. Hmmmmm!

this is simply encouraging, inspirational, motivational and all the other great things we need every day, to follow our dream, our destiny, to find that courage to move forward, heavily, slowly, then more astutely towards what we should be doing, loving it. I pray that you will do just that live and be what you long to be.

Hi Brooke
Such a beautiful use of metaphor, to look at the fear that we humans seem to have when it comes to following through with our dreams. I can see why you won this contest. Nature is an inspiration as well as a teacher. I appreciate your cadence and ability to rhyme without force..but mostly, your inspired thoughts.

wow, what a strong poem, how encouraging to those who haven't met their potential, perhaps I can summon the courage I need to live the life I've always longed to lead; wow I loved this poem, the wonder the whole way through, how things do what they do and stay as/where they are and how hard it is to get the courage. great writing

Wow, the stanza about the sun and starts reminded me of the chapter from Thales tears about Lacys first night, would she ever wake again. This was a great piece of emotional poetry, i had a lesson. That lesson was the greatest of all, trust yourself. This poem for me is the ultimate humanist poem, i know you are a believer but for me this poem screams "you can do it yourself" As always a pleasure

Thank you for such a wonderful response and generous review - what I love about literature is that I can identify with so much of your novel that it doesn't matter if we also have some philosophical differences, and you can identify with my poem despite the same differences. If a piece of literature is rich and deep enough, it will have plenty for people of different persuasions to find common ground!

That it does, i like to think i am a man of reason, but sometimes i have to have a little faith in humanity

A lot of my dreams have came true but they showed me that the dreams in itself does not satisfy for long, its the merits of those who helped, the lessons I learnt, the relief of achievement and the pride at moderation, that reaps me this intuition to seek out greater dreams. You can do it, you are far better a poet.

Wow. I've read so many of your poems lately that I went into your Portfolio and found this gem. I love your humorous, light poems, but it's clear that you can write anything. Very well-written, very well-structured, and very well-said. You need to find the courage to put all of these together and get published. You are truly talented and a collection of your poetry should be on bookshelves! As usual, thanks for sharing this and never stop writing. ;-)

Oh we who have brains should we question courage. Mother nature just is and just does. Maybe we need to be a little more like her and just do what has to be done without thinking about it.
I loved this, your rhyme and rhythm are perfect and the subject matter gives food for thought. Good luck in the competition.
