What a sad life for such a majestic animal that belongs in the wild. People will do much for money even imprison such a creature. Well done. Thanks, Jeanette

Great poem, Chris. It reverberates with emotion and has a strong affect on the reader. Good rhythm and rhyme.

At [least] captive animals are now kept in much better conditions

I'm so glad that I've found your poem it is so pure and touches the center of every heart IMHO. I remember watching the lions etc. Also when I was small but I was so in awe of them at the time that it was not until much later that I felt bad about them being in cages. Great read Well done.

Thanks so much SunlitWhisper. I'm glad you enjoyed this. It's one of those things, looking back on childhood, where one wonders what on earth these creatures did 'wrong' to be kept in cages. At least they're kept in much better conditions now. AGain, thanks so much fo ryour comments and review xoxoxoxoxxo

in your note - at least - you wrote at lease You have an excellent rhythm and rhyme that makes this easy to read out loud - I love the idea of a small child counting the bars as he watched the majestic tiger pace in confinement and his plea to his dad to set the animal free despite adult logic that justifies captivity

I also hate to see wild animals crowded into a small cage, that is why I very seldom go to a zoo. The poem was well written and I didn't spot any flaws.
