When I first went to the hospital, I applied for a job in Pediatrics. There was no opening then and they asked if I wanted to work in Newborn Intensive Care with the preemies. I said no way could I have the skill to take care of those little babies...then, she took me on a tour of the NICU. It just so happened a 2 pound baby was being admitted. She was crying and kicking and her eyes were looking at me and I instantly became hooked on these wee people. I do love my work. There's been some horror stories and times that my heart was ripped from my chest, but I could never work anywhere else...ever.

So this hot contest is still going on lol. I entered twice and thought I had enough lol. You have a fine entry here, though when I wrote something like this earlier, I was commented of making a statement and not a story. Well, this contest could be the hardest to judge. This is a great life story. My first son was born 4 weeks early
and had to stay in the neonatal care unit for 12 days. You'd never
know it now. Great entry. Best wishes.

Funny, but even at 20, 30, 40 or 50, my once-preemie friends still talk of what miracles they are and how their mothers and fathers and doctors and nurses gave them that chance to live.
